Doctors warn that these illegal additives may damage the nerves, liver and kidneys, have a particularly significant impact on the development of the adolescent nervous system, and even seriously disrupt the human endocrine system. It is reported that these "soaked Yangmei" were sent to wholesale markets in Zhejiang, Shanghai and other places. In order to cope with supervision, vendors will prepare several boxes of unopened bayberries in advance for marking, and once they encounter sampling, they will send these "clean samples" for inspection. At present, local regulatory authorities have launched special surprise inspections and seized prohibited items on site. The common "small white worms" in Yangmei are mostly fruit fly larvae that feed on fruit pulp. The white larval stage is harmless to the human body and is not parasitic. It is not suitable for consumption after maturity and blackening. The higher the sweetness of Yangmei, the more likely it is to attract fruit flies. Proper cleaning can safely remove it. Scientific selection: One look, two smells, three touches to see appearance: the preferred choice is dried and free of water stains on the fruit surface, bright red and natural color, and plump fruit kernels of Yangmei; Do not choose fruits that are unripe, dark red/uneven black red, soft and rotten with water, or abnormally shiny. Smell: Fresh Yangmei has a natural fruity aroma; If there is a smell of alcohol or sourness, it indicates that it has been fermented and spoiled. Do not purchase. Texture: Moderate softness and hardness are optimal; If it is too soft, it is too ripe; if it is too hard, it tends to be sour and astringent. Purchase channels: Choose supermarkets, farmers' markets, and legitimate e-commerce platforms with complete licenses, prioritize purchasing products with promised compliance certificates, keep shopping vouchers, and do not buy bayberries from unknown sources or unlicensed roadside stalls. Standardized cleaning: Soaking in salt water is more reassuring. It is recommended to soak in 5% diluted salt water for 5-10 minutes, which can effectively force out fruit fly larvae and reduce pesticide residues and impurities. After soaking, rinse with flowing water, air dry and consume, which is both safe and retains the original flavor of Yangmei. Proper storage: Fresh consumption is the main option, with refrigeration as a supplement. Yangmei is not resistant to storage and is prone to spoilage at room temperature for 2-3 days. It is recommended to buy and eat it immediately. Do not clean the unfinished waxberries. Blow dry the surface moisture first, seal with plastic wrap, and refrigerate at 0-4 ℃ for no more than 48 hours.
