According to the News Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, on the 4th local time, Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao met with reporters in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, to summarize the eight major achievements of his visits to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. He stated that 96 cooperation agreements and memorandums were signed during this trip, with a total amount exceeding 1.65 billion US dollars.
Li Jiachao said that during this trip, he led 75 representatives from the business and professional sectors of mainland China and Hong Kong to visit the two countries. During the visit, he attended more than 20 various activities, inspected key projects in finance, innovation and technology, infrastructure and other fields, and achieved eight major results.
Firstly, meeting with the leaders of both countries, establishing intergovernmental contacts, and reaching consensus on cooperation in multiple fields, the Uzbekistan government agreed to establish a consulate general in Hong Kong.
Secondly, the delegation signed 96 cooperation agreements and memorandums with the two countries, involving a total value of over 1.65 billion US dollars.
Thirdly, the SAR government and the governments of the two countries have agreed to engage in negotiations on different areas of the agreement, including negotiations on a comprehensive avoidance of double taxation agreement and negotiations on an investment promotion and protection agreement.
Fifth, the Hong Kong offshore platform plays an effective role, allowing Hong Kong and mainland enterprises to "sail together" and achieve the effect of "one plus one is greater than two".
Seventh, promote cultural exchanges. Hong Kong universities will cooperate with universities from both countries to promote education and talent exchange; The Palace Museum in Hong Kong will establish a partnership with the National Museum of History of Uzbekistan.
