The "Shengping 186" ship, carrying 74 foreign trade containers and 78 domestic trade containers, recently set sail from Dongguan Port and will pass through two ports, Xiuying Port and Yangpu Port in Haikou. The domestic trade containers will be unloaded at the two ports, while the foreign trade containers will be connected to international ships at Yangpu Port and finally exported to Indonesia.
It is reported that this is the first time since the General Administration of Customs launched the "water to water transfer" multimodal transport supervision mode that Dongguan Port has implemented the "domestic and foreign trade on the same ship+water to water transfer multimodal transport" mode, marking a substantial step forward in the coordinated development of logistics between the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan Free Trade Port.
Dongguan Port is backed by a strong manufacturing cluster in the Pearl River Delta, with abundant sources of electronic appliances, daily fast-moving consumer goods, and strong demand for domestic and foreign trade transportation. As the forefront of China's opening-up, Hainan Free Trade Port has unique policy and location advantages in cross-border trade, bulk commodity distribution, logistics transportation, and other aspects. The strong complementarity of industries between the two regions provides a solid foundation for cross regional logistics cooperation.
According to Sha Tin Customs, a subsidiary of Huangpu Customs, compared with the traditional transit mode, the "domestic and foreign trade on the same ship+water and water transfer multimodal transport" mode allows foreign trade containers and domestic trade containers to be transported on the same ship. Enterprises can "declare, inspect, and release once" at Dongguan Port, and the goods can be transferred to international routes directly overseas through domestic transit ports without the need for further procedures. This effectively improves the utilization of ship space, simplifies the customs clearance process, shortens the transportation cycle, and reduces the comprehensive logistics cost, allowing goods in the Greater Bay Area to take advantage of the overseas advantages of Hainan Free Trade Port and more efficiently and conveniently reach the Southeast Asian market.
The opening of this route effectively integrates the shipping resources of the Pearl River Delta and Hainan Free Trade Port, "said Feng Min, the relevant person in charge of COSCO Shipping. It is expected that this route will be increased to once a week and continue to expand the types of goods. It is expected that the annual freight volume will exceed 1500 TEUs.

According to statistics, in the first five months of this year, Sha Tin Customs supervised a total of 52000 TEUs of imported and exported container goods, a year-on-year increase of 19.4%.
