The launch ceremony of the 2026 National Energy Conservation Promotion Week was held in Chongqing on the 15th, and the "Three Year Action Plan for Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction in Key Industries" was released at the ceremony. The 36th National Energy Conservation Promotion Week in China was held from June 15th to 21st this year, with the theme of "New Starting Point for Energy Conservation, Low Carbon Towards the Future".
At the launch ceremony, the Environmental Resources Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, along with the Energy Conservation Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Climate Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Social Responsibility Bureau of the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the Planning Department of the National Energy Administration, jointly released the "Three Year Action Plan for Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction in Key Industries" to strengthen the promotion of energy conservation and carbon reduction in various departments. Eleven enterprises from key industries such as electricity, steel, building materials, non-ferrous metals, petrochemicals, and chemicals have jointly released their commitment to energy-saving and carbon reduction transformation during the 15th Five Year Plan period. Financial institutions and enterprise representatives signed a letter of intent on cooperation to empower energy conservation and carbon reduction through green finance on site, using financial instruments to assist enterprises in energy conservation and carbon reduction. Representatives from industry associations, public institutions, refrigeration companies, etc. initiated a statement on the renovation of public institution refrigeration. Five Internet platform enterprises jointly launched the theme action month of "energy-saving and low-carbon lifestyle home" to provide people benefiting subsidies for energy-saving and low-carbon products, green travel, etc.
It is reported that during this year's National Energy Conservation Promotion Week, various regions, relevant departments, and units will focus on the key work of energy conservation and carbon reduction, carry out energy-saving and carbon reduction transformation in key industries, energy efficiency improvement in the industrial sector, energy-saving and carbon reduction in the construction sector, green and low-carbon transformation in transportation, construction of energy-saving mechanisms, popularization of green and low-carbon knowledge, and organize promotional activities with local and industry characteristics based on actual conditions. They will vigorously promote the concept of simple, moderate, green, low-carbon, civilized and healthy living and consumption patterns, providing strong support for the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.
