On January 15, Li Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Premier of the State Council, met in the Great Hall of the People with a delegation of Japan's ruling coalition led by Hiroshi Moriyama, Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, and Makoto Nishida, Secretary-General of the Komeito Party.

Li Qiang said that China-Japan relations are currently at a crucial stage of improvement and development. In November last year, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Ishibashi Shigeru in Peru and they agreed to work together to comprehensively promote the China-Japan strategic and mutually beneficial relations and build a constructive and stable China-Japan relationship that meets the requirements of the new era, so as to provide strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations. The resumption of the ruling party exchange mechanism between China and Japan after nearly seven years is an important measure for both sides to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. China and Japan are neighbors that cannot be moved. Since we can't move away, we should be good neighbors and be good at being neighbors. It is hoped that China and Japan will continue to work together to enhance mutual trust, deepen cooperation, manage differences, promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations and bring more benefits to the two peoples in line with the direction pointed out by the leaders of the two countries.

Li Qiang pointed out that the world today has entered a new period of turbulence and change, and the cause of peace and development is facing increasing uncertainties and instabilities. The ruling parties of China and Japan should demonstrate their mission and responsibility, and take correct and effective actions from the perspective of safeguarding the long-term and fundamental interests of the two countries and being responsible to their people and history. More efforts should be focused on promoting cooperation and common development, promoting the two countries to further utilize their economic complementary advantages, maintaining the stable and smooth operation of the industrial chain and supply chain, and exploring more new growth points of cooperation in the fields of scientific and technological innovation, digital economy, green development and exploration of third-party markets. It is necessary to enhance the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, do more things that are conducive to promoting mutual understanding and correct perception, strengthen cultural, local and youth exchanges and consolidate the public opinion foundation of bilateral relations.

The Japanese side said that in November last year, Prime Minister Ishibashi Shigeru and President Xi Jinping reached an important consensus on Japan-China relations. The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan and the Komeito Party will, as always, be committed to promoting Japan-China relations and adhere to the principles established in the four political documents including the Japan-China Joint Statement. The ruling party exchange mechanism between Japan and China is of far-reaching significance. The Japanese side looks forward to the two sides carrying out exchanges at all levels and in a wide range of fields in the new year. The younger generation will become the driving force for the development of Japan-China relations, so it is necessary to strengthen exchanges and increase understanding.
