Hong Kong's population grows by 0.1% year-on-year by the end of 2024

On the 18th, the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department released data showing that the provisional population of Hong Kong at the end of 2024 was 75342000 people. Compared to the population of 7527900 at the end of 2023, the increase is 0.1%. Data shows that by the end of 2024, the total population consisted of 7267100 permanent residents and 267100 mobile residents. The revised population figure for mid-2024 is 7524100 people. The number of permanent residents has been revised to 7257300, while the number of mobile residents has been revised to 266800. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government stated that the population of Hong Kong has recorded growth for the third consecutive year after the resumption of normal operations. Continuing to benefit from various measures to attract talent and import labor, there will be a significant influx of people from mainland China and around the world into Hong Kong in 2024, resulting in a 0.3% increase in the number of permanent residents at the end of 2024 compared to the end of 2023, and an overall increase in population as a result.
