Since the 14th Five Year Plan, Shandong has completed the treatment of domestic sewage in 23700 administrative villages, and the treatment rate has increased from 31.7% at the end of the 13th Five Year Plan to 67%. This is what the reporter learned from the press conference held by the Shandong Provincial Government Information Office on the 19th. The treatment of rural domestic sewage and rural black and odorous water bodies is a livelihood project that concerns the well-being of the people and is also a key link in the construction of beautiful rural areas. Since the 14th Five Year Plan, Shandong has eliminated 1428 large areas of rural black and odorous water bodies, and the villages that have completed treatment have basically eliminated dirty and disorderly phenomena such as sewage cross flow and mosquito and fly breeding. The sense of gain and happiness of the people continues to improve. Hou Cuirong, Director of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Shandong Province, introduced that in the face of many challenges such as a large number of villages, large regional differences, and tight governance time and heavy tasks, Shandong has included rural domestic sewage treatment and rural black and odorous water treatment as key livelihood issues for four consecutive years, focusing on prioritizing the governance of key areas such as the Yellow River main stream, Dawen River basin, and Nansi Lake basin. The governance proportion of five key villages, including central villages and drinking water source protection areas, has reached 78%. In 2024, Shandong explored various models for the treatment and resource utilization of rural domestic sewage and black and odorous water bodies, promoting the transformation of domestic sewage from "treatment" to "utilization". More than 80 million tons of clean water sources were added throughout the year to supply village greening, road dust reduction, irrigation of nearby orchards, forests, and farmland, achieving a win-win situation of ecological and economic benefits.
