The completion ceremony of the Hong Kong Chaozhou Chamber of Commerce's Red Headed Boat Wind and Rain Pavilion and the launch ceremony of the Chaozhou Shantou Cultural Carnival, hosted by the Hong Kong Chaozhou Chamber of Commerce and co organized by the Central and Western District Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, was held in Hong Kong on the 23rd. The red headed boat, measuring 18.19 meters in length and 3.89 meters in width, stands tall on the seaside promenade of Zhongshan Park, telling the spirit of "standing at the forefront of the tide" as a trendy merchant. Red headed ships refer to the ships in Guangdong Province (including Hong Kong and Chaoshan areas at that time) during the Qing Dynasty that were required to have red oil on their bows for ease of management. Commercial ships engaged in long-distance trade were named after the red color of their bows. When Hong Kong was established as a port, people from Chaoshan took the Red Boat to Hong Kong and first settled in the Triangle Pier area on Hong Kong Island. Many people engage in transit trade and shipping, and the Triangle Port has become an intermediate station for receiving mainland compatriots and providing supplies to red headed ships sailing far away. The ancestors of Chaoshan took the Red Boat to cross the ocean, enduring risks and hardships, and went overseas to make a living and seek development. At the event, Huang Shurui, Chairman of the Centenary Celebration Committee of the Hong Kong Chaozhou Chamber of Commerce, stated that the purpose of the Hong Kong Chaozhou Chamber of Commerce donating to build the Red Headed Boat Wind and Rain Pavilion is to enable more people, especially the younger generation in Hong Kong, to understand this history and remember the footsteps of the Chaozhou ancestors. The President of the Hong Kong Chaozhou Chamber of Commerce, Gao Peixuan, said that the predecessors of Chaozhou carried dreams and gathered courage, boarded the Red Headed Ship and sailed to Southeast Asia, and explored the world. With their tenacious will and extraordinary wisdom, they opened up hopeful maritime trade routes. Hong Kong's Teochew people will never forget their original aspirations and continue to contribute to the economic development, social harmony and stability, hometown construction and national modernization of Hong Kong under the guidance of the Red Boat spirit. From May 23rd to 25th, the organizer held the "Chaoshan Culture Carnival" at the Central and Western District's Sheung Wan Waterfront Promenade section, with booths available for citizens and tourists to experience.
