Once, Sun Yihai was seriously injured in an accident while carrying out a gun catching mission and fell unconscious on the spot. Three days later, Sun Yihai woke up and lay on the hospital bed looking at his empty left leg, feeling like the sky had collapsed. Due to the serious injury to Sun Yihai's left leg, the medical expert team had to perform a high-level amputation surgery for him. His left leg has been amputated, but he still has 36 steel balls in his body that cannot be removed. Seeing Sun Yihai lost in confusion and despair, his wife Wu Hongmei placed his photos and honor certificate from his time in the army at the bedside. He caressed the certificate of honor, recalling his experience of growing up in the army, and his heart was ignited with fighting spirit. He wakes up at 5 o'clock every day and repeatedly practices single leg support in the rehabilitation room. Even when blood seeps out of the prosthetic joint and the pain is unbearable, he grittes his teeth and persists in completing the training task. After leaving the hospital, Sun Yihai refused the easy post arranged by the organization and took the initiative to apply to the Guomeng police station to become a registered residence policeman. He not only tried to do a good job in handling registered residence and managing archives, but also actively mediated contradictions for the masses and helped them out. One day, Sun Yihai visited Jiang Changyou's house, a poor family. As soon as he entered the house, he was stunned by the scene in front of him: the small, dark rental house was leaking everywhere, Jiang Changyou, who was in the late stage of cancer, was curled up in bed, and his wife was feeding Congee to his granddaughter with hydrocephalus... He walked actively with a crutch, reported the situation to the Civil Affairs Bureau and the Housing and Urban Rural Development Bureau, and soon won public rental housing for the Jiang Changyou family according to relevant regulations.
