The National Library of China recently announced the launch of a new version of the website for the China Digital Library for the Blind. As the first national level accessible digital reading platform in China, the China Digital Library for the Blind was established in 2008. In 2024, in order to further enhance the accessibility of reading services, the National Library of China will launch an optimization project for the website. According to Li Zhiyao, Deputy Director of the Digital Resources Department of the National Library, this website upgrade strictly follows the internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG2.1) standard, using color contrast that meets the standard to ensure that interface elements are clear and distinguishable; Establish a full keyboard operation and shortcut command system to achieve precise control; Build non visual information transmission channels to achieve seamless interaction throughout the entire process from resource retrieval to content acquisition. The revamped website introduces audio resources, provides 6421 e-books covering philosophy, social sciences, literature and art, 26102 audio books, 8887 music works, 30 celebrity lectures, 220 barrier free films with professional commentary, and 31 "Wenjin Classics Reading", from Chinese classics to popular science and technology themes, and is committed to laying a "cultural tactile paving road" for visually impaired readers in the digital and intellectual era.
