On June 11th, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released data showing that in the first five months of this year, China's automobile market showed a steady growth trend, with total automobile sales approaching 13 million units. Among them, the export of new energy vehicles continued to increase, becoming an important force in promoting the development of the automobile industry. Chen Shihua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that at present, the overall operation of China's automobile industry is showing a steady and good trend, and the market vitality is constantly releasing, but the industry's profitability continues to decline, and the situation of "no increase in profits by increment" has not improved. Among them, the production and sales of the automobile market in May achieved a growth of over 10% compared to the same period last year, and both domestic demand and exports performed well. Since 2025, with the continuous promotion of the "two new" policies, coupled with factors such as the intensive launch of new products by car companies and the hot promotion of car exhibitions in multiple regions, the vitality of China's automobile market has been fully released. According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in the first five months of this year, China's automobile production and sales reached 12.826 million and 12.748 million respectively, an increase of 12.7% and 10.9% year-on-year, demonstrating a strong growth momentum. In terms of the passenger car market, in the first five months of this year, the cumulative sales of passenger cars reached 10.996 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%. Among them, a total of 2.352 million passenger cars were sold in May, a month on month increase of 5.8% and a year-on-year increase of 13.3%, maintaining double-digit growth for several consecutive months. This achievement is due to the continued effectiveness of the car trade in policy and the growing demand from consumers for high-quality and intelligent automotive products. From the perspective of brand structure, Chinese brand passenger cars have shown particularly outstanding performance. In the first five months of this year, Chinese brand passenger cars sold a total of 7.562 million units, a year-on-year increase of 26.3%, accounting for 68.8% of the total passenger car sales, and the sales share increased by 7.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year. This data indicates that Chinese brand passenger cars are gradually occupying a dominant position in market competition, with significant improvements in product quality, technological innovation capabilities, and brand influence. In terms of the commercial vehicle market, in the first five months of this year, commercial vehicle sales reached 1.753 million units, a year-on-year increase of 1.2%. Compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of buses and trucks have shown varying degrees of growth in the main varieties of commercial vehicles. In the subdivision of truck varieties, compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of heavy and light trucks have shown varying degrees of growth, while the production and sales of medium and micro trucks have shown varying degrees of decline. In the segmented varieties of passenger cars, compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of light passenger cars increased slightly, the production and sales of medium-sized passenger cars increased slightly but decreased slightly, and the production and sales of large passenger cars decreased slightly. In the first five months of this year, the top ten companies (groups) in terms of car sales sold a total of 10.708 million vehicles, accounting for 84% of the total car sales. The pressure of internal competition caused by disorderly 'price wars' on the overall profitability of the industry has become apparent. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers issued an initiative at the end of May, calling on the industry to adhere to innovation driven development, improve product and service quality, and maintain fair competition order. This initiative has been widely recognized. In the future, with policy support, market openness, and corporate self-discipline, the Chinese automotive industry is expected to continue to move forward on the dual track of scale growth and quality improvement. ”Zhang Xiang, a visiting professor at Huanghe University of Science and Technology, told reporters. Accelerating globalization layout in the field of new energy vehicles, China's automotive industry has achieved remarkable results. In the first five months of this year, the cumulative production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 5.699 million and 5.608 million respectively, an increase of 45.2% and 44% year-on-year. This data not only demonstrates the enormous potential of the new energy vehicle market, but also reflects the significant progress of China's new energy vehicle industry in technological innovation, product quality, and market expansion. China's exports of new energy vehicles continue to increase, becoming a new engine driving the growth of the automotive industry. According to statistics, in the first five months of this year, China's automobile exports reached 2.49 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%. Among them, the export of new energy vehicles was 855000 units, a year-on-year increase of 64.6%, far exceeding the growth rate of traditional fuel vehicles. The achievement of this result is due to the continuous innovation of China's new energy vehicle industry in battery technology, intelligent driving, vehicle networking and other fields, as well as the rapid growth of global market demand for new energy vehicles. From the perspective of export structure, China's new energy vehicle exports have covered multiple countries and regions, including Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, etc. Especially in the European market, some Chinese new energy vehicle brands have established research and development centers and production bases locally, achieving a transition from "manufacturing going global" to "system going global". The continuous increase in exports of new energy vehicles not only drives the export growth of China's automotive industry, but also promotes the global layout of the new energy vehicle industry chain. From core components such as power batteries, motors, and electronic controls, to cutting-edge technologies such as intelligent driving and connected vehicles, both upstream and downstream enterprises in China's new energy vehicle industry chain actively participate in global market competition, forming a complete industrial ecosystem. At the same time, China's new energy vehicle industry also emphasizes cooperation and win-win outcomes with local enterprises in the process of globalization. By means of technology output and joint venture cooperation, the development of the local new energy vehicle industry has been promoted, achieving a mutually beneficial and win-win situation. This open and cooperative attitude not only enhances the international influence of China's new energy vehicle industry, but also makes positive contributions to the sustainable development of the global automotive industry.
