The Hong Kong SAR government announced on the 12th that it welcomes the jurisdictional description released by the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the "Foundation"), which confirms Hong Kong as one of the first jurisdictions with the goal of fully adopting the International Financial Reporting Sustainability Disclosure Standards (ISSB Standards). This demonstrates Hong Kong's commitment to enhancing the transparency of information on sustainable development in the capital market, facilitating investors' investment decisions, and promoting global financial integration. The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Mr. Hui Cheng yu, stated that the confirmation of the foundation proves that Hong Kong's efforts and determination to support and promote international common sustainable disclosure of information have been recognized, while demonstrating Hong Kong's advantages in the field of sustainable finance, which will help consolidate Hong Kong's position as an international sustainable finance hub. As a leading international financial center, Hong Kong will continue to strive to align with international standards and promote market best practices. The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants released the Hong Kong Sustainable Disclosure Standards, which fully align with the ISSB standards, in December last year and came into effect on August 1st this year. The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau also launched the "Hong Kong Sustainable Disclosure Roadmap" in December last year, clarifying Hong Kong's policy of requiring public responsibility entities to adopt the ISSB standards, and providing a clear path for large public responsibility entities to fully adopt the ISSB standards by 2028.
