In order to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourse on overseas Chinese affairs work, and closely follow the main line of overseas Chinese affairs work in the new era of "roots," "soul," and "dreams," on June 18th, the final of the recruitment and selection activity for outstanding cultural guides of overseas Chinese volunteers in Xiguan Yongqing Fang was held in Guangzhou under the theme of "Building Dreams in Overseas Chinese Hearts? Sound Moving Eternal Celebration. The purpose of this event is to explore and cultivate cultural communication talents in overseas Chinese hometowns, establish a normalized volunteer explanation service system, and vividly explain the history of overseas Chinese in Liwan, commercial culture, and the revitalization achievements of Yongqing Fang. The aim is to create a standardized and professional team of volunteer cultural guides, and guide volunteers to achieve employment transformation in new cultural and tourism related professions through training and qualification certification of cultural guides. Since the launch of the event on May 23, people from all walks of life, such as workers of the Federation of Overseas Chinese, returned overseas students, students from universities such as Jinan University and Foreign Studies University, cultural enthusiasts, and residents of public welfare communities, have actively participated. They carefully planned the explanation route, wrote explanation documents, and filmed explanation short videos, and ultimately nearly 50 contestants entered the preliminary round; After two professional trainings on June 9th and June 11th, 21 contestants were selected for the finals. The finalists conducted route planning and on-site performances around the two core areas of the Yongqing Fang Historical and Cultural District in Xiguan - Enning Road (Yongqing Fang, Cantonese Opera Art Museum), the most beautiful old street in Guangzhou, and the millennium famous Lizhi Bay area. They interpreted the characteristics and charm of the historical and cultural heritage of the urban overseas Chinese hometown in Liwan from different perspectives, fully demonstrating the style and demeanor of the "Overseas Chinese Volunteer Cultural Tour Guide" in Liwan District. Professional judges comprehensively evaluate the contestants' on-site performance from aspects such as cultural enthusiasm, language ability, image and temperament, and relevance to the overseas Chinese community. Two first prize winners, four second prize winners, six third prize winners, and several winners were selected on-site. The award ceremony will be officially held at the closing ceremony of the 9th Overseas Chinese Season in Liwan District on June 30th. Among them, Luo Jingyi, a freshman majoring in Cantonese Broadcasting at Jinan University, won the first prize in this competition with her solid professional foundation, love for Xiguan culture, and abundant material preparation. Grassroots Overseas Chinese Federation worker He Xiaojuan used Mandarin and Cantonese "bilingual" to narrate the cultural history of Yongqing Fang in Xiguan. The Cantonese opera "Selling Litchi" played on site instantly immersed the audience in the unique water and land scenery of Liwan, where "a bay of water is green and the lychee branches on both sides are red". Zhang Weihua and Huang Qifeng, enthusiastic residents of the public welfare community, shared touching stories of overseas Chinese returning to China to build Liwan, as well as popular science about the architectural features and origins of Liwan, which greatly benefited the on-site audience. After the competition, Ye Zhihai, Vice Chairman of Guangdong Overseas Chinese Youth Federation and Vice Dean of Jinan University Cultural Heritage Creative Industry Research Institute, commented on the event on behalf of the judges with the words "exquisite, wonderful, unique, and harmonious", and urged the cultural guides present to continuously enrich their knowledge system and become disseminators of cultural knowledge. Bu Zhiqun, Chairman of the Liwan District Overseas Chinese Federation, gave a concluding speech for this event. She highly praised the contestants for vividly presenting the stories, spirits, and contributions of overseas Chinese in the thousands of years of historical development of Liwan to the audience with heart and emotion. She also encouraged the award-winning excellent "Overseas Chinese Heart" cultural guides to continue to be "interpreters" of historical texture, "ferryman" of civilized dialogue, and "inheritors" of volunteer spirit, using their voices to convey overseas Chinese hearts and actions to fulfill their missions, jointly telling the stories of Liwan and China, and gathering the strength of the overseas Chinese community for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. She also mentioned that this event is also a part of the 9th Overseas Chinese Season series in Liwan District, using it as an opportunity to support the 15th National Games and cheer for Guangzhou. It is reported that this event is guided by the Organization Department and United Front Work Department of Liwan District Committee.
