Chinese lunar soil samples enter the United Nations headquarters in Vienna for the first time

On the 25th local time, during the 68th session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, the China National Space Administration and the Permanent Mission of China to Vienna jointly held the "20 Years of China's Lunar Exploration Project" Achievement Exhibition at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna. For the first time, samples of the front and back of the moon collected from the Chang'e-5 and Chang'e-6 missions were publicly exhibited at the United Nations. Li Song, the Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Vienna and other international organizations, delivered a speech stating that the lunar soil samples from China embody the spirit of "pursuing dreams, daring to explore, working together to overcome challenges, and achieving win-win cooperation" in lunar exploration, demonstrating China's constructive attitude of adhering to the principles of equality, mutual benefit, peaceful use, and inclusive development, actively committed to and continuously expanding international cooperation in lunar exploration. He stated that Chang'e lunar soil has brought us closer together to jointly promote human exploration and utilization of outer space on the platforms of the United Nations and the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. The Director General of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, Hora Mani, congratulated China on its great achievements in space exploration and thanked China for bringing the first month of human back samples to the United Nations headquarters in Vienna for exhibition. She expects China, as a major space power, to continue to play an important leading role, promote the maintenance of the role of the main platform of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, and promote global governance of outer space. The rotating chairman of the Vienna branch of the Group of 77 and China and the permanent representative of Kenya, Makuru, expressed the hope that China will lead countries in the global South to boldly pursue their dreams, fully utilize international cooperation to bridge the space technology gap, and build a common future for mankind. All parties have expressed that the great achievements of China's lunar exploration project are the pride of all mankind. They highly appreciate China's sharing of international cooperation opportunities and are willing to actively participate in China's space international cooperation projects, committed to using the United Nations platform to promote the common cause of human exploration of the mysteries of the universe. All parties look forward to continuously strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China, and jointly promoting the benefits of outer space knowledge and technology for all mankind.
