The first batch of offshore wind power projects with the farthest offshore distance in China are connected to the grid for power generation

Today (July 4th), as the blades of Unit 9 of the Three Gorges Jiangsu Dafeng offshore wind power project slowly rotate, the first batch of units of China's offshore wind power project, which is currently the farthest offshore, have been connected to the grid, further promoting the development of China's offshore wind power towards deeper and farther seas. The Jiangsu Dafeng offshore wind power project is located in the northeast sea area of Dafeng District, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, with a farthest offshore distance of 85.5 kilometers. It is currently the farthest offshore wind power project in China that has been connected to the grid for power generation. The project has installed a total of 98 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 800 megawatts. Liu Yu, the person in charge of the Dafeng 800 MW offshore wind power project of Three Gorges Group Jiangsu Branch: The successful grid connection of the project has verified the feasibility of the development of deep-sea offshore wind power and further expanded the scope of wind energy development and utilization. We strive to achieve full capacity grid connected power generation as soon as possible this year. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to deliver over 2.6 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity to the grid annually, which can meet the annual electricity consumption of about 1.1 million households of three. It is understood that there are over 71 billion kilowatts of offshore wind energy resources available worldwide, of which more than 70% are from deep-sea areas, but their development and utilization rate is still less than 0.5%. The annual average wind speed in the deep sea area can reach over 9 meters per second, and the power generation hours are significantly higher than those in the nearshore areas, making it suitable for large-scale wind power development.
