Taiwanese renowned Nanyin artist Zhuo Shengxiang led his disciples from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, Luo Chunzhen and Guo Guilan, to perform Nanyin's "Shui Tiao Ge Tou (When Will the Moon Shine)" and "Homesickness" in Sanfang Qixiang, Fuzhou on the 6th, using traditional art to discuss cross-strait friendship. Zhuo Shengxiang has been associated with Nanyin since the age of 7, and although he is now in his twilight years, he still holds onto his love for Nanyin. In 2009, he chose to settle in Xiang'an, Xiamen and actively promoted cultural exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. This year, he became the representative inheritor of Nanyin, a national intangible cultural heritage project, and the first Taiwanese compatriot to receive this honor. During the performance, Zhuo Shengxiang held the Nanyin pipa horizontally and lightly plucked the strings with his fingertips, blending emotions into the music. When Nanyin's "Homesickness" reached its climax, he couldn't help but recall his mother. He said that Nanyin's "Homesickness" was completed this year, inspired by Yu Guangzhong's classic poem "Homesickness". Yu Guangzhong's ancestral home is Yongchun County, Quanzhou, Fujian. This year, he followed in the footsteps of a poet to visit Yongchun and was commissioned by the person in charge of Wulijie Central Primary School in Yongchun County to complete this Nanyin work. Homesickness is linked to the feelings of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. ”Zhuo Shengxiang sighed and said, "This Nan Yin song 'Homesickness' resonates with a unique artistic form and has been widely spread in Quanzhou, Xiamen and other places." This performance is one of the theme exhibition activities launched by the Fujian Provincial Art Museum, "Weekend Play Meets Intangible Cultural Heritage and Youth". At the event, the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project Gezaixi, Zhuang Hairong, and her partner performed the Gezaixi "Farewell at 18", which received applause and cheers from everyone. Citizens and tourists visiting Sanfang Qixiang are also attracted by the melodious ancient music. Through such exhibition activities, more people can experience the unique charm of Taiwanese opera. ”Zhuang Hairong said that Gezi Opera, as the only "sisters flower" drama jointly bred by both sides of the Straits among more than 300 operas in China, carries profound cultural heritage and is the emotional bond of people on both sides of the Straits. We look forward to cross-strait opera artists working together to promote the inheritance and development of this traditional art form. (New Society)
