For hundreds of years, Lingnan martial arts represented by Wing Chun have taken root and sprouted on the land of southern Guangdong, showcasing the spiritual outlook of Lingnan people and spreading the profound philosophical ideas and ways of life behind martial arts. Under the inheritance of generations of martial artists, Wing Chun has transcended geographical barriers and gained widespread popularity and high praise both domestically and internationally. Cen Zhaowei, the representative inheritor of Guangzhou intangible cultural heritage Wing Chun (Xiguan), the sixth generation descendant of Foshan Wing Chun, and the second generation descendant of Cen Neng Wing Chun, has been studying Wing Chun with his father, Cen Neng, who is known as the "father of Guangzhou Wing Chun" since childhood. In addition to comprehending the philosophy of Wing Chun, he also aspires to promote and develop Guangzhou Wing Chun. In recent years, he has devoted himself wholeheartedly to the promotion and inheritance of Guangzhou Wing Chun, striving to take it to a broader stage. Cen Zhaowei and Cen Neng, representative inheritors of Guangzhou Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Wing Chun (Xiguan) Wing Chun: combining strength and softness, like a snake and a dragon. Chinese martial arts are known for their southern and northern styles. There is Tai Chi in the north and Wing Chun in the south. Wing Chun has been developed in the Lingnan region for hundreds of years and is a unique style of Southern boxing. "Cen Zhaowei said that the history of Wing Chun can be traced back to the mid to late Qing Dynasty, with a history of more than 300 years. There are different theories about the origin of Wing Chun. "Currently, we generally believe that Wing Chun was founded in the Qing Dynasty by Yan Wing Chun, a native of Fujian, who absorbed the posture and characteristics of the Snake Crane Conflict. Later, her husband Liang Bo Qiu introduced Wing Chun to Guangdong opera troupes, and his main disciples included Liang Erdi, Huang Huabao, Lu Jin (Dahua Face Brocade), Gao Lao, and others. Since then, Wing Chun has taken root and flourished in Guangdong." Cen Zhaowei introduced, "Under the dissemination of the 'Four Famous Cantonese Opera Actors' and opera troupes at that time, Wing Chun has formed two main development paths: one is Feng Shaoqing, Ruan Qishan, and Zhang Bao, Cen Neng Zhi. The transmission route is' Guangzhou Foshan Guangzhou domestic and international'; the other is the branch of Liang Zan, Chen Huashun, and Ye Wen, and the transmission route is' Guangzhou Foshan Hong Kong foreign ' Among them, Foshan is an important area for the inheritance and development of Wing Chun, and a group of Wing Chun masters have emerged, such as Liang Zan, Chen Huashun, Chen Rumian, Wu Zhongsu, etc. In Guangzhou, there is also a master of Wing Chun, who is known as Cen Neng, the "father of Guangzhou Wing Chun". Cen Neng, the father of Guangzhou Wing Chun (source image), introduced that his father Cen Neng was born in Peru in 1925. At the age of 5, he returned to his hometown Renhe Village, Nanhai Shencun Township, Foshan due to family changes. At the age of 12, his family was affected by the war and their fortunes declined, so he worked as a laborer at Tianhai Tower in Foshan. Due to his young age at the time, Cen Neng was often bullied, so he had the idea of learning kung fu. "Considered highly by Zhang Bao, the Tianhai Lou Dim sum master and Yongchun master, Cen can be accepted as an apprentice and began to learn Zhang Bao's powerful Yongchun style. Cen can practice martial arts hard and have a high understanding, so he was appreciated by Ruan Qishan, a friend of Zhang Bao and a Yongchun master. With the recommendation of Zhang Bao, Cen can join Ruan Qishan to learn his Yongchun style, which is soft like a snake, and to further improve his martial arts, such as fist, stick, stake and knife." Cen Zhaowei further introduced, As "medicine and martial arts are not separated", Cenneng also studied internal medicine with Ruan Qishan and orthopedics with Wei Yusheng during his martial arts study, and learned a lot of medical skills. Under the cultivation of three masters, Cen Neng combined their strengths and formed a Wing Chun style that combines strength and softness, like a snake or a dragon. In 1946, Cen Neng, who possessed martial arts and medical skills, ventured into the provincial capital of Guangzhou and opened a medical martial arts school on Dade Road, starting his career of spreading Wing Chun medical martial arts. In just a few years, Cen Neng, who has extremely high martial arts talent, has gained great fame in the Guangzhou Wing Chun community. During this period, he was successively employed by the blacksmith union, catering union, hardware union and other organizations in Guangzhou to teach medical skills and martial arts, and combined his years of martial arts experience to establish the "Cen Neng Wing Chun Quan". In the 1970s and 1980s, the influence of Cen Neng Wing Chun reached its peak. In 1989, he founded the Guangzhou Martial Arts Association Wing Chun Club, which gathered numerous Wing Chun elites in Guangzhou at that time. It not only promoted the development and dissemination of Wing Chun in Guangzhou, but also facilitated exchanges between Wing Chun folk groups. Cen Zhaowei recalled, "In the Guangzhou Wing Chun community, from 1946 until Cen Neng's death in 2002, Cen Neng Wing Chun was very prosperous, with the saying 'originated from Feng Shaoqing and flourished in Cen Neng'. Therefore, 'Cen Neng Wing Chun' gradually became synonymous with 'Guangzhou Wing Chun'. Over the years, Cen Neng's disciples have spread to dozens of countries and regions around the world, influencing over 100000 people. In 1989, the Guangzhou Wushu Association Wing Chun Boxing Club was established. Overall, Wing Chun is a martial art that combines domestic martial arts and close combat, emphasizing the strength of the inch and requiring the unity of hand, waist, horse, heart, mind, and strength. Yongchun is based on three sets of fist techniques, namely, small idea, bridge seeking and target pointing, Wooden Dummy for instrument practice, and eight chop knife and six point half stick. Cen Zhaowei introduced, "My father once said, 'Three sets of fists, one set of stakes, one set of knives, one set of sticks, cannot change.' This is the foundation of traditional Wing Chun. In addition, Guangzhou Wing Chun has a 12 character mnemonic, 'That is' set up a trap, swallow and leak, and burn and burn'. Cen Zhaowei stated that "raising hands" is a unique technique and teaching form of Wing Chun, where both sides' arms repeatedly stick and roll to each other, applying force and borrowing force, leaving and leaving, emphasizing a sense of balance and not sticking constantly, in order to find and create defensive gaps and use force to strike and counter the opponent. Through this "hands-on teaching", practitioners can balance both left and right hands, improve their reaction speed, and train short distance power. In addition to carrying the excellent genes of Chinese martial arts, Wing Chun also embodies the unique regional cultural characteristics of Lingnan. He explained, "The streets in Guangdong are mostly narrow streets and alleys, and the 'short bridges and narrow horses' were formed to adapt to this geographical environment, which also shaped the simple, direct, and practical characteristics of Wing Chun." Cen Neng Wing Chun Boxing Manual 2, decades of learning martial arts: refining martial arts skills, understanding the way to stand and deal with the world. Growing up in his father's medical martial arts school, Cen Zhaowei became inseparable from Wing Chun. When I was a child, I often saw my father wake up early to practice martial arts. Every weekend, many of his disciples came to learn and practice martial arts, even during special times, without interruption. "He recalled," My father often reminded me to 'listen more' when practicing and teaching martial arts. Therefore, before I started learning Wing Chun, I had already memorized many of Wing Chun's mnemonics and terminology, which laid the foundation for my future martial arts practice. "At the age of 12, Cen Zhaowei officially began learning Wing Chun, starting from the basic skills of horse steps and boxing techniques." At the beginning, I only practiced Zhama steps for several months, and of course, I found it difficult to persist, "but his father and his disciples. His words and deeds taught him not to slack off at all, 'Learning martial arts means starting from the basics.'. When my father first started learning Wing Chun, he would polish his basic skills and practice horse riding on the rooftop of Tianhai Tower every morning. Over the years, the red bricks on the rooftop have left a sunken pit, which is a testament to his dedication to martial arts and also an inspiration for me. ”After practicing martial arts for five or six years, Cen Zhaowei gradually comprehended the philosophy behind Wing Chun in the hands of Wooden Dummy and Yu. "I found that I could not leave Wing Chun, so I changed from passive learning to active research." He explained, "If you want to apply Wing Chun to pure fire, you should not only learn its moves, but also understand and integrate the philosophy behind it, such as the balance of yin and yang, the combination of hardness and softness." The philosophy is also reflected in many aspects of Wing Chun. Cen Zhaowei said, "Wing Chun emphasizes first establishing one's character and then strengthening one's body and mind through unique martial arts concepts. Therefore, when selecting disciples, my father also needs to examine their morality and conduct before teaching them Wing Chun." Cen Zhaowei demonstrated Wing Chun martial arts techniques, and Cen Neng's adherence to martial arts traditions also deeply influenced Cen Zhaowei. My father taught us to uphold tradition in the inheritance of Wing Chun, and 'upholding tradition' is also his greatest strength, "he further explained. With artistic talent, he was admitted to Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts Affiliated Middle School of Fine Arts and Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, but he never stopped practicing Wing Chun during his studies. He recalled, "In 1982, I was admitted to the Craft Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts to study interior design, but during my studies, I often used my spare time to learn and spread Wing Chun. For example, in 1983, I established a martial arts association at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and served as its president, in order to spread Wing Chun, a traditional martial art, to younger groups." In 1983, the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts Martial Arts Association was established. After graduating from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1985, Cen Zhaowei continued to use his spare time to improve Wing Chun and assist his father in spreading Wing Chun. Due to work reasons, I need to travel around, so I am more flexible and adaptable in spreading Wing Chun. In 2014, as he was nearing retirement, he began to devote his energy to teaching and inheriting Wing Chun. Nowadays, Cen Zhaowei and his brother Cen Disi are both involved in the front line of spreading Wing Chun in Guangzhou and constantly striving for it. Since practicing martial arts until now, Cen Zhaowei has also had his own understanding of Wing Chun: "Wing Chun is a process of observing oneself, which allows you to first understand oneself and then understand the world." At the same time, he believes that Wing Chun is a martial art that is life oriented. "As long as you have this awareness, you don't need specialized areas and equipment, you can practice anytime, anywhere. This is the charm of Wing Chun." Thirdly, from point to point: promoting inheritance through dissemination, "making Wing Chun life oriented." After years of development, Wing Chun has now been widely spread in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hong Kong, Macao and other regions, and even spread across mountains and seas to countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, France, and the United States. Regarding the dissemination and inheritance of Guangzhou Wing Chun, Cen Zhaowei believes that the overall situation is very good. Overall, more and more people are becoming familiar with and exposed to Guangzhou Wing Chun. Although their basic skills are not well practiced and need to be gradually improved, I believe that with time, more people will be able to master Wing Chun proficiently and fall in love with it. Wing Chun Boxing (Xiguan) has been selected as a representative project of Guangzhou's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Now, Cen Zhaowei is focusing on exploring the profound connotations of Chinese traditional culture and Lingnan culture and combining them with Guangzhou Wing Chun to achieve a "1+1>2" dissemination effect. In 2016, relying on the opportunity brought by the first micro renovation project of the old city in Guangzhou, Yongqing Fang, the "Guangzhou Cenneng Wing Chun Inheritance Base" was established in Yongqing Fang, Xiguan, Guangzhou. He said, "I have integrated my years of interior design experience and insights into Guangzhou Wing Chun into the construction of the Wing Chun inheritance base, presenting the development of Guangzhou Wing Chun in the past few decades in an aesthetic way, and allowing more tourists to understand the history of Guangzhou Wing Chun." On the other hand, under the planning and promotion of Cen Zhaowei, Yongqing Fang has held multiple Wing Chun cultural festivals, and Wing Chun has entered the hearts of residents in a more "down-to-earth" way. He also innovatively combined Guangfu cuisine culture with martial arts culture - it is said that in the early years of martial arts schools in Guangdong, masters and apprentices would practice after dinner
