National standards promote the healthy development of the civilian drone industry

Improving the development level of civilian unmanned aerial vehicles is an important condition for the development of low altitude economy. The reporter learned from the State Administration for Market Regulation that since June 2024, China has successively formulated and released a series of national standards related to the development of civilian unmanned aerial vehicles. The implementation of the standard for over a year has effectively reduced the development, testing, and production costs of civilian drones, and enhanced the industrialization and commercialization capabilities of civilian drones. Among them, the national standard "Requirements and Methods for Reliability Flight Testing of Civil Drones" strictly stipulates the conditions for reliability flight testing, forcing enterprises to improve product design, enhance environmental adaptability and fault tolerance. According to statistics, after adopting this standard, the average time between failures (MTBF) of related products has increased by 25%, and the loss of control rate in complex urban scenarios has decreased by 50%. The implementation of two national standards, "Implementation Requirements for Risk Subjects of Civil Large and Medium sized Fixed Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems Test" and "Requirements for Autonomous Flight Test of Civil Large and Medium sized Fixed Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems", has effectively improved the risk management and control level of civil fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicle test flights of 150 kilograms and above. Data shows that the implementation of relevant standards has led to a 15% year-on-year decrease in the accident rate of large and medium-sized fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicles during flight testing, an average reduction of 20% in flight testing cycles, and an 18% reduction in development costs. The national standard "Requirements for Collision Safety of Civil Light and Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" establishes a classification system for collision injury levels of civil light and small unmanned aerial vehicles ranging from 0.25 kg to 25 kg, specifies safety requirements for aircraft structure and six collision safety test methods. The relevant technical requirements have been effectively verified in collision safety tests of multiple models of civil light and small unmanned aerial vehicles. According to industry research, light and small unmanned aerial vehicles designed with protective devices using this standard have an average reduction of 40% to 60% in personnel injury risk index during collision testing. The sales of products that partially adopt this standard increased by 115% year-on-year. The relevant person in charge of the State Administration for Market Regulation stated that they will further strengthen the formulation and implementation of civil drone standards with relevant units, providing stronger standard support for the development of low altitude economy.
