The new national standard has been released, and unified coding rules will be established for enterprise material procurement

2025-07-10

The National Standard for Classification and Coding of Enterprise Procurement Materials was officially released today (10th), establishing a unified coding rule for enterprise material procurement. This standard, together with the two published group standards, constitutes the standard system for enterprise procurement management in China, which will provide important foundational support for the smooth operation of the industrial and supply chains and the construction of a unified national market. The "Guidelines for Classification and Coding of Enterprise Procurement Materials" is a national standard that addresses the industry pain points of confusion and inconsistent coding rules in the classification of enterprise procurement materials. It has constructed a logically clear, widely covered, and highly compatible material classification framework and coding rules, which is equivalent to establishing a unified "identity recognition system" and "standard language" for the procurement materials of enterprises nationwide. Experts say that for a long time, the problem of chaotic classification and inconsistent coding rules in enterprise procurement materials has seriously constrained supply chain efficiency, led to data silos, and increased system integration and management costs. It is reported that the national standard will be officially implemented from September 1, 2025, and pilot work will be carried out in some central state-owned enterprises and large private enterprises.
