On the 9th, Deng Bingqiang, the Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, responded in writing to questions from Hong Kong Legislative Council members, stating that the new Huanggang Port will adopt a "one place, two inspections" arrangement and a "cooperative inspection, one release" clearance mode, with 134 "cooperative inspection" self-service channels and 68 traditional manual counters, and a daily clearance flow of about 200000 people. Deng Bingqiang stated that it has become common for Hong Kong people to "go north" on weekends, and the two-way travel between the mainland and Hong Kong is a future trend. Therefore, preparations need to be made to enhance the response capabilities of port departments and the level of port clearance facilitation to cope with the increasing demand for clearance. He stated that the Hong Kong SAR government is working closely with the Shenzhen municipal government to promote the reconstruction project of Huanggang Port. The newly rebuilt Huanggang Port will adopt the "one place, two inspections" arrangement and the "cooperative inspection, one-time release" customs clearance mode to provide greater convenience for cross-border passengers. The Xinhuanggang Port will set up 134 "cooperative inspection" self-service channels and 68 traditional manual counters, which is a significant improvement compared to the current configuration of 39 traditional e-channels and 45 traditional manual counters at the Lok Ma Chau Port. Its designed customs clearance flow is about 200000 people per day. Compared to the current average of about 37000 people entering and leaving the Lok Ma Chau Port every day, it is believed that the rebuilt New Huanggang Port can meet the future customs clearance needs of the two places. In addition, in order to further enhance the clearance capacity of the Heung Yuen Wai control point, the departure hall of the control point is undergoing optimization work. After the completion of the project, the number of e-channels in the departure hall will increase from the original 14 to 18. (New Society)
