The astronauts of Shenzhou-19 spacecraft made their first public appearance after returning from space

On the afternoon of July 9th, the China Astronaut Research and Training Center held a press conference for the Shenzhou-19 crew at the Beijing Aerospace City. This is the first official public appearance of astronauts Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze to the media and the public after more than two months of their return, and they shared their experiences and insights from their 183 day stay in space. Cai Xuzhe, the commander of the Shenzhou XIV and Shenzhou 19 missions, witnessed and participated in the leap of the space station from the construction stage to the application and development stage. He said, "Every time we perform a flight mission, it's not a simple repetition of the previous mission, but a continuous leap towards higher levels." During our in orbit period, the crew participated in the implementation of 88 experimental projects, covering fields such as space life sciences, microgravity basic physics, and aerospace medicine, and successfully prepared more than 10 types of 102 experimental samples. In addition, they also completed in orbit testing and verification of space station pipeline inspection robots, object weight perception testing, emotional state testing capability evaluation, and experimental sample replacement. Cai Xuzhe set multiple records during the extravehicular activity of the Shenzhou-19 mission: breaking the world record for single extravehicular activity time in 9 hours for the first time, and completing a total of 5 extravehicular activities in two flight missions, becoming the Chinese astronaut with the most extravehicular activities at that time. He emphasized that "every successful exit is the result of the crew's concerted efforts and the cooperation of heaven, earth, and space. It also fully reflects the reliability of the extravehicular spacesuits and the confidence of China's aerospace technology." When it comes to the issue of unexpected jamming of the payload adapter during the exit, Cai Xuzhe recalled: Faced with challenges such as time constraints and unfamiliarity with the extravehicular equipment situation, after the ground team's video call training, the crew calmly responded, judged the equipment status after leaving the cabin, and successfully completed the disposal after communicating with the ground support team. When the enthusiastic applause from the ground support team came through the earphones, he felt proud of the role and value that astronauts have played in manned spaceflight. As the first Chinese astronaut born in the 1990s to carry out extravehicular missions, Song Lingdong sighed, "The moment you open the hatch is the moment to fulfill your dream." He believes that with the vigorous development of manned spaceflight, the younger generation, with the help of their predecessors and the support of all astronauts, has taken on the responsibilities of their generation. Song Lingdong made his first attempt to plant sweet potatoes in orbit, and the plants grew well. Before returning, he collected samples according to ground instructions and brought them back, providing important data for verifying the feasibility of sweet potatoes as a long-term food source for space flight. Female astronaut Wang Haoze, who embarked on her first space journey, injected new energy into the entire crew with her delicate operating habits, scientific thinking, and gentle psychological background. For every operation, I tell myself to slow down, ensure safety, focus on details, and ensure success. In space, to do a good job, one must also be calm and able to withstand the grind. "Wang Haoze completed all tasks with confidence. She said, "To contribute more to scientific exploration and let the world see more female astronauts, all my efforts will become more meaningful." "I will definitely ignite more torches to illuminate the distant space, just because in that distant starry sky, there is my lifelong dream. At the meeting, Wang Haoze also shared his original poem "Chasing Dreams in the Star River", expressing his love for the aerospace industry. It is reported that the crew of Shenzhou-19 has completed various tasks such as isolation and rehabilitation after returning, and has fully entered the stage of recovery observation. At present, under the careful protection and care of the research support team at the China Astronaut Research and Training Center, the crew of Shenzhou-19 is in good physical and mental condition, with normal medical examination results, and muscle strength, endurance, and exercise cardiopulmonary function have basically recovered to pre flight levels. After completing various tasks during the recovery period and conducting health assessments, the three astronauts will return to normal training. (New Society)
