On July 14, 2025, the shipbuilding industry base in Shidao Management District, Rongcheng City, Shandong Province was bustling with workers working overtime to repair and construct various large ships. In recent years, Rongcheng City in Shandong Province has relied on its unique coastal resources and industrial foundation to promote the high-quality development of the shipbuilding industry through technological innovation, industrial chain extension, and high value-added shipbuilding, becoming an important engine for regional marine economic growth. Rongcheng has 24 ship building and repair enterprises above the designated size, with an annual production capacity of 1 million deadweight tons and a ship repair capacity of more than 1000 ships. Its products cover 1800TEU container ships, Antarctic krill fishing and processing ships, luxury cruise ships, roll on/roll off passenger ships, heavy lift ships and other high value-added ship types, and its production plan is scheduled to be 2028.
