The voting for the 8th Legislative Council election of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is scheduled for December 7th, electing 90 members of the 8th Legislative Council. The SAR government submitted a document to the Legislative Council on the 16th stating that the voting time for general polling stations, Election Committee sector polling stations, and dedicated polling stations in police stations will be from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm, while the voting time for dedicated polling stations located in correctional institutions will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Electoral Affairs Office plans to set up about 600 general polling stations for local constituency voters and functional constituency voters to vote, and plans to set up an Election Committee constituency polling station at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Centre for voters in that constituency to cast their votes for their Election Committee, local constituency, and functional constituency. The Electoral Affairs Office also plans to set up adjacent border polling stations in two schools near the MTR station in Sheung Shui, Hong Kong, for local and functional constituency voters to vote. The plan also stipulates that voters must register online in advance before using the polling stations, and will consider whether there are other suitable venues to add adjacent border polling stations. The SAR government stated that except for dedicated polling stations and a few general polling stations with unstable network coverage or support difficulties, the polling stations will continue to use the electronic voter registration system, and special teams will be established for voters with special needs, as well as seating areas will be set up at polling stations. As for the counting arrangement, the local constituency ballots will continue to use the arrangement of voting at the polling station and counting by hand; The votes for functional constituencies and election committee constituencies will be counted centrally.
