Recently, the "Macau International Food Capital Carnival" (hereinafter referred to as the "Carnival") hosted by the Macau SAR Government Tourism Office was unveiled at the Fisherman's Wharf in Macau. The theme of this carnival is "Spices and Vanilla", attracting a total of 34 "Creative City Food Cities" from 21 countries and regions to participate. Together, we aim to create an international level food culture feast that integrates global cuisine, culinary exhibitions, and food forums. By integrating tourism with food, culture, heritage, and innovation, we aim to showcase Macau's unique charm as a "Creative City Food Capital" to the world. As one of the highlights of the carnival, this year's "International Food Avenue" has once again been upgraded in scale, with over 100 food booths and 14 "food capitals" from around the world working together to offer local specialty foods. 54 local food booths from Macau offer a diverse and unique range of cuisine, including Portuguese and Cantonese dishes, authentic specialties, desserts, and drinks. For the first time, four culinary capitals including Florian ó polis and Bel é m in Brazil participated in the event, adding a strong South American flavor to the carnival. At the first "Culinary Exhibition of the Capital of Cuisine", chef representatives from the Macau Macanese Cuisine Association and the Macau Culinary Association demonstrated the rich culinary connotations of the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures in Macau by making dishes such as "Free Treatment Three Styles" and "Mandarin Duck Shrimp Brewed Jade Linglong". According to the organizers, during the 10 day carnival event, renowned chefs from 29 "Creative City Food Cities" will showcase over 60 exciting cooking skills and knowledge. There is also a free tasting session on site, allowing diners to experience the unique culinary culture and classic flavors of "food capitals" around the world up close. The carnival gathers many popular restaurants and dessert shops in Macau, as well as exotic snacks that are not usually easy to eat. You can taste various local cuisines in one street. ”Ms. Yu, a mainland tourist, said. The unique culinary culture and global cuisine of Macau have become a must visit for tourists. ”According to the Director of the Macao SAR Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Almeida, a total of 5 dining areas have been planned and 1000 dining seats have been added to this year's carnival, an increase of 42% compared to last year. This will provide a better dining experience for citizens and tourists. In conjunction with the coastal sunset scenery, the carnival has specially set up a "Sun Coffee and Evening Wine Area", providing diners with a variety of choices from coffee to fine wine, allowing everyone to enjoy the sea view and taste delicious food while sharing leisure time with family and friends. The carnival also features a cultural stage and a coastal stage, bringing a variety of entertainment programs, including passionate Portuguese folk dances, pleasant band performances, exciting fancy skipping rope, and dynamic street dance performances. There are also fun activities such as puppet interactions, magic shows, and clown balloon twists, making the entire carnival filled with a joyful and lively atmosphere. During the carnival, the "Macau International Food Forum" was held simultaneously, with more than 250 representatives from "food capitals" around the world engaging in exchanges and discussions, providing suggestions and recommendations for the sustainable development of tourism and catering industries, as well as promoting the cross-border integration of "tourism+food" in Macau. Qin Changwei, secretary-general of the National Commission for UNESCO of China, said that the forum has set up a platform for exchanges among the world's "food cities", and expects Macao to further polish the name card of the food city and show greater achievements in promoting sustainable development of the city with the creative food industry. Wen Qihua said that he hoped that through the carnival, food would serve as a bridge, give full play to Macao's advantages as an international exchange platform, commit to inheriting the food culture, and jointly practice the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with the "food cities of creative cities", so as to further consolidate Macao's status as a "world tourism and leisure center".
