The jumping spider family and jumping spider genus are one of the most diverse species groups. The Guangfeng jumping spider discovered and named this time resembles an ant, with a body length of 3-4 millimeters and a brown to dark brown carapace. Its first step is to have thick and swollen feet, a narrow and elongated abdomen, and a clear reflective scale on the back surface. The male spider has a slender and elongated top protrusion on the touching limb, with obvious grooves, which is significantly different from other jumping spiders. The research team confirmed the species as an unrecorded new species through morphological identification and named it Guangfeng jumping spider based on the region where the species was collected. Associate Professor Liu Keke from the School of Life Sciences at Jinggangshan University stated that this discovery provides important scientific basis for the biodiversity conservation of the Tongboshan National Nature Reserve in Jiangxi Province, further highlighting the unique value of the reserve in species resource conservation. At the same time, it indicates that the reserve has unique spider background resources, once again confirming the high biodiversity of hilly areas. (New Society)
