Flood prevention and disaster relief is a race against time. If valuable social attention and rescue resources are constrained by rumors, it is not only easy to cause public anxiety and panic, but also may interfere with command decisions and rescue deployments, affecting the normal development of flood prevention and disaster relief work. Recently, due to the continuous heavy rainfall, some parts of Yunnan have been at risk of flooding. Faced with the raging floods, the masses have united as one, and multiple departments have responded quickly, organizing emergency forces in the first place and working together to fight against natural disasters. However, some netizens spread rumors of casualties caused by the flood situation in order to gain traffic, attract attention, and disrupt public order. The public security organs have dealt with them in accordance with the law. Case 1: Baoshan Internet Police investigated and dealt with Wu's fabricated online rumor of "floods washing away fishing enthusiasts" in accordance with the law. Recently, Baoshan Internet Police discovered that a netizen posted a video of the surging river water on an online platform, saying, "Another fish lover's life is gone. After verification by the local public security organs, the filming location of the video was a power station in Gengjia Township, Changning County. Recently, during the work of Zhaotong Internet Police, it was discovered that a netizen posted a video of two men swimming upstream in a turbulent river on an online platform, accompanied by the caption: "Oh, shouting for a moment and drowning two, this is the end of being brave. After verification by the local public security organ, the video was shot in Yanjin County, Zhaotong City. Recently, due to the continuous rainstorm, the river water level in a certain section soared and the road was flooded. In order to absorb powder and attract attention, Mr. Luo organized personnel to take videos in the water of this section and release them to the network platform. The Zhaotong public security organs have imposed administrative penalties on Luo Moucheng in accordance with the law. Case 3: Chuxiong Internet Police lawfully investigated and dealt with the case of Bai Moumou fabricating online rumors of "three dolls washed away by floods". Recently, the Chuxiong Internet Police discovered that a netizen posted a video on an online platform showing police officers from the Wuding County Public Security Bureau fully rescuing people trapped by flash floods. When a netizen asked in the comment section about the location of the incident and who was washed away, the publisher replied with "Dongpo" and "three little dolls". After verification by the local public security organs, recently, due to the continuous heavy rainfall, some sections of Dongpo Township in Wuding County, Chuxiong Prefecture have been flooded with water. On June 26th, Dongpo Police Station received a report from the public requesting help, stating that a motorcycle had fallen into the water. The police quickly rushed to the scene and transferred the crowd and the fallen motorcycle to a safe area. During this period, Bai deliberately fabricated the above false information and posted it on online platforms in order to gain attention, knowing that there were no casualties or children washed away by the flood at the scene. The Chuxiong public security organs have imposed administrative penalties on Bai in accordance with the law. Case 4: Wang Moufeng fabricated that the rainstorm in Zhuanghe City, Dalian City, Liaoning Province caused landslides. On July 22, an Internet user released a video on the short video platform, with an article saying that the rainstorm in Zhuanghe City, Dalian, Liaoning Province caused landslides, which attracted Internet users' attention. After verification, there was no landslide in Zhuanghe City, and the pictures in the video are from the internet. After confirming that the information was false, the Dalian Internet Police and the local police station summoned the video publisher Wang Moufeng to the public security organs in accordance with the law. After questioning, Wang Moufeng admitted that she deliberately fabricated false flood information to attract attention and traffic. At present, the Wang has been administratively punished by the public security organs in accordance with the law. The Internet is not an illegal place. When publishing information and opinions on the Internet, you must abide by laws and regulations. Flood prevention and disaster relief should not allow rumors to add chaos. We must continue to strengthen the crackdown and rectification on this kind of rumor making behavior that breaks through the moral bottom line and challenges the legal red line, and make the rumor mongers pay a heavy price! The public security organs will timely expose typical cases, deter illegal and criminal activities on the internet, and safeguard the clear cyberspace. (New Society)
