The concert "Poetic Charm of China" will be held in Hong Kong

The "Poetic Charm of China" concert was held on August 2nd at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. As one of the events in the "Chinese Culture Festival 2025" series in Hong Kong, it presented poetry and music works such as "Wishing for a Long Life" and "Three Layers of Yangguan". This concert is hosted by the Hong Kong Member Association of the Chinese Literature and Art Federation, and co organized by the Hong Kong Member Branch of the Chinese Musicians Association. Hong Kong Cantonese opera renowned actress Luo Jiaying serves as a guide, connecting ancient and modern poetry. The concert that evening began with a joint performance of "Yellow River Cantata" by the Universal Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Opera House Chorus, Hong Kong Polytechnic University Chorus, and others. There are both classic movements from the 20th century and contemporary works inspired by classical poetry by local Hong Kong composers on site, including arrangements by Mak Ka lok and a selection of songs from Bai Juyi's famous poem "Song of Everlasting Regret". Other songs have their own unique features. Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award winner Deng Wanxia performed "Ode to Pear Blossoms", tenor singer Mo Hualun performed "Seven Rhymes: Long March", and pianist Zheng Hui presented the newly composed ancient song "Spring River Flower Moon Night" as a piano solo. Singers Zhang Mingmin and Kuang Meiyun performed "My Chinese Heart Symphony" and "Our Home" to bring the performance to a close. Ms. Cui, a Hong Kong audience member, said, "This concert combines poetry and music, allowing me to truly experience the profound heritage of Chinese culture." The Hong Kong "Chinese Culture Festival 2025" will be held from June to September, with over 280 performing arts programs and a series of extended activities aimed at promoting Chinese culture, enhancing the national identity and cultural confidence of Hong Kong citizens, and attracting and gathering top artists and art groups from mainland China and the world to exchange ideas in Hong Kong.
