The 4th China Japan Korea Agriculture Ministers' Meeting was held in Incheon, South Korea on the 11th. Han Jun, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, Song Meiling, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Food of South Korea, Kinjiro Koizumi, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, and Lee Hee suk, Secretary General of the China Japan Korea Cooperation Secretariat, attended the meeting. The China Japan South Korea Agriculture Ministers' Meeting resumed after 7 years, and the previous meeting was held in Beijing in November 2018. At this conference, the agriculture ministers of the three countries discussed six core issues, including food security, animal disease prevention and control, sustainable agriculture, rural revitalization, cooperation on globally important agricultural cultural heritage, and global cooperation, and exchanged views on future cooperation directions. In the face of complex challenges in the agricultural sector such as climate crisis, cross-border infectious disease transmission, and supply chain instability, the three parties have reached a consensus on the importance of information sharing and joint response, and agreed to expand complementary cooperation around smart agriculture, green low-carbon agriculture, and new farmer cultivation. Han Jun stated that current international relations are complex and ever-changing, unilateralism and protectionism are on the rise, global climate change is intensifying, and the development of agriculture and rural areas in China, Japan, and South Korea is facing common challenges. China is willing to work with Japan and South Korea to have frank dialogue, build consensus, take concerted actions, promote the comprehensive restart of agricultural cooperation, and strive to build a new pattern of China Japan South Korea agricultural cooperation with stronger resilience, wider fields, closer connections, and richer connotations, jointly making positive contributions to promoting the revitalization, prosperity, and development of regional agriculture and rural areas. Han Jun said that he hopes to take this meeting as an opportunity for the three parties to work together to promote pragmatic cooperation in regional agriculture to a new level and jointly build a new pattern of agricultural cooperation. After the meeting, the agriculture ministers of the three countries signed a joint communiqu é and reached a consensus on holding regular and institutionalized meetings.
