The closing ceremony of the 18th Hong Kong Youth Military Summer Camp and the 12th Hong Kong University Students Military Life Experience Camp was held at the Xinwei Military Camp of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison on August 10. About 500 students from over 190 secondary schools and universities in Hong Kong reviewed and summarized their 10 day training and learning experience, showcasing the spiritual outlook of Hong Kong youth. At the closing ceremony, a solemn flag raising ceremony was held first. After representatives from all parties delivered speeches, guests presented graduation certificates to the student representatives and took a group photo as a souvenir. The event came to a successful conclusion with the full chorus of 'Singing the Motherland'. This is the first time that the Hong Kong Youth Military Summer Camp and the Hong Kong University Students' Military Life Experience Camp have been merged and organized simultaneously. During the event, the students received training in military sports, individual soldier formation movements, marching on foot, and map usage. They observed advanced weapons and equipment such as infantry fighting vehicles, ships, and helicopters, as well as "hunter combat" performances. They participated in lectures on patriotism and national defense knowledge, visited the theme exhibition "Dreaming of the East - Chinese Dream, Strong Military Dream, Xiangjiang Defender", and watched the theme art performance "Salute to the Motherland". They spent a short but fulfilling time in the military camp. The first activities of the Hong Kong Youth Military Summer Camp and the Hong Kong University Students Military Life Experience Camp were launched in 2005 and 2011 respectively, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Garrison, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Qunli Resource Center, the Hong Kong Youth Army Association, and others. So far, more than 8500 Hong Kong teenagers have participated. Through military training, they have deepened their understanding of the national conditions and defense knowledge of the motherland, deepened their understanding of the basic situation and fine traditions of the people's army, further cultivated their patriotism, strengthened their national defense concept, and honed their excellent skills. Since the PLA entered Hong Kong 28 years ago, while fulfilling its defense responsibilities, it has always focused on strengthening communication and exchanges with all sectors of Hong Kong society, actively carried out patriotism and defense education activities such as national defense education on campus, training of flag raising ceremony for primary and secondary school students in Hong Kong, military summer camps and military life experience camps, and regularly organized Hong Kong citizens to visit the exhibition themed "Dream of the East - Chinese Dream, Dream of a Strong Army, and Defender of the Xiangjiang River" of the Hong Kong Garrison, so as to continue to gather strong positive energy for building a better Hong Kong and achieving national rejuvenation.
