Its capital was located in Xingqing Prefecture (now Yinchuan, Ningxia), and it once dominated the Hexi Corridor at its peak. It was destroyed in 1227. The Yuan Dynasty compiled the histories of Song, Liao, and Jin, but did not provide a specialized biographical history for the Western Xia Dynasty.
