On the 24th and 25th, Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun led a delegation to visit Hong Kong, aiming to promote deeper cooperation in technological innovation between the mainland and Hong Kong, and accelerate the integration of Hong Kong's technological development into the national innovation system. On the 25th, under the witness of Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao and Director of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, Zhou Ji, Yin Hejun awarded licenses to 15 national key laboratories in Hong Kong. Li Jiachao stated at the award ceremony that the SAR government is fully committed to building Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology center, actively promoting the participation of Hong Kong universities and laboratories in national science and technology plans, enhancing research capabilities, and accelerating Hong Kong's integration into the national innovation system. The 15 national key laboratories in Hong Kong that have been awarded this time are all from top 100 universities around the world, demonstrating Hong Kong's research strength. Yin Hejun stated that the layout and construction of the national key laboratory in Hong Kong reflects the full recognition and trust of the country in Hong Kong's scientific research strength, innovation capability, and development potential. He encourages the national key laboratory in Hong Kong to strive for major original innovations and key technological breakthroughs, actively integrate into the overall development of the country, and play a greater role in the construction of a strong science and technology country. Zhou Ji stated that the practice of "One Country, Two Systems" has entered a new stage, and only by placing technological innovation in a more prominent position can it further play its supporting and leading role in high-quality development. He shared three points of view: insisting on strengthening the advantages of planting and innovation through basic research; Persist in empowering industrial upgrading with technological innovation; Persist in gathering high-end talents through platform construction. It is reported that during their stay in Hong Kong, Yin Hejun and Li Jiachao had in-depth exchanges on topics such as supporting Hong Kong to accelerate the construction of an international innovation and technology center, enhancing the global influence of technological innovation, and promoting Hong Kong to play a greater role in the construction of a technological powerhouse. Yin Hejun also had a work meeting with Zhou Ji. In addition, Yin Hejun held discussions with representatives from the technology industry such as Hong Kong university presidents and heads of national key laboratories, and visited the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center.
