South Africa China themed book exhibition held in Cape Town

From August 29th to September 1st, the South African China themed book exhibition with the theme of "Passing on the Fragrance of Books to Promote Friendship and Connecting China and Africa" was held in Cape Town, the legislative capital of South Africa. This book exhibition is jointly organized by China International Book Trade Group, South African Independent Media Group, South African e-commerce platform Loot, and the International Office of the Western Cape University in South Africa. Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Cape Town, You Wenze, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the book fair, stating that books are an important component of cultural exchange and cooperation. They are not only important carriers of communication among people from different countries, but also a link to enhance mutual understanding. This book fair provides an important window to showcase the charm of Chinese culture and will enhance cultural exchanges between China and South Africa. Li Nan, the representative of the Chinese publishing delegation and the deputy director of the Content Editing Center of China International Book Trade Group, said that the publishing circles of China and South Africa look forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation, creating and publishing more excellent books and works that benefit the people of the two countries, and providing a more solid humanistic foundation for practical cooperation between China and South Africa. The picture shows publishers from China and South Africa exchanging ideas at a book fair. Martin Becker, Category Manager of Loot, a South African e-commerce platform, stated that the first South African China themed book exhibition was successfully held last year. On this basis, publishers and cultural representatives from South Africa and China have once again gathered this year to discuss book publishing and distribution, translation cooperation, and other topics, promoting deeper understanding and more lasting cooperation between the two sides. It is reported that at this book fair, China International Book Trade Group Corporation, together with publishing units such as Higher Education Press, China Finance Press, China Taxation Magazine, Jiangsu Phoenix Publishing Media Group, showcased publications in the fields of traditional Chinese culture, Chinese language teaching, traditional Chinese medicine health, folk art, children's books, etc., allowing South African friends to have a comprehensive and multi-dimensional understanding of China.
