Recently, Mr. Wang Zengqi's two new works, "Selected Works of Wang Zengqi" and "Someone Singing in the Distance (Illustrated Edition of Old Tree Painting)," were published by People's Literature Publishing House. On August 30th, the "Joy and Warmth that the World Gave Me - Selected Works of Wang Zengqi" and "Someone Singing in the Distance (Illustrated Old Tree Painting) New Book Launch Conference" were held at the Red Chamber Public Library. Mr. Wang Zengqi's eldest son, prose writer and gourmet Wang Lang; the editor in chief of "The Complete Works of Wang Zengqi", literary critic, biographer, and essayist Ji Hongzhen; The painter and professor at the School of Culture and Media, Central University of Finance and Economics, had a discussion on the painting of Old Trees. At the beginning of 2019, People's Literature Publishing House published the "Complete Works of Wang Zengqi", covering various literary genres of Wang Zengqi. After the publication of the Complete Works, the Humanities Society launched a series of Wang Zengqi publications of different levels and forms based on the high-quality version of the Complete Works. Compared to the "Complete Works", the "Selected Works" highlights the "refinement" and selects masterpieces that highlight the author's artistic personality. One of the highlights of this book is the calligraphy and painting volume. In addition to over a million words, the "Selected Collection" has created a unique space for "calligraphy and painting volumes", providing readers with a cost-effective reading option. More than 70 selected essays by Wang Zengqi, accompanied by over a hundred illustrations by renowned painter Lao Shu, are featured in the book 'Someone Singing in the Distance', with a fresh and elegant style. The whole book is divided into four chapters: "Plants, Insects, Fish, Birds, and Beasts", "Food and Things in Four Directions", "Travel and Residence", and "Human World". The selected essays fully implement Wang Zengqi's creative viewpoint: "Sending Little Warmth to the Human World." The beauty and warmth that are easily overlooked in daily life are written out, giving a little warmth to the human world. Mr. Wang Lang, the son of Mr. Wang Zengqi, specially brought two paintings by Mr. Wang. One is what he said in his article about using celery juice as a pigment to "write new greenery with spinach juice", and the other is a lotus flower painting. After Mr. Wang painted it, his granddaughter used her immature paintbrush to apply water marks and two new flowers on it. The materials readily available and the casual and respectful attitude towards children's creative nature are a vivid reflection of Wang Zengqi's personality. When it comes to the commonality between his paintings and Wang Zengqi's prose, Old Tree believes that it is "a concern for secular life." The reason why the atmosphere of literature and painting is consistent is that both "do not agree with the big, heavy, and focused on the normal state of life." It is precisely the "strong sense of identity and consistency in life attitude" that led to the emergence of the book "Someone Singing in the Distance".
