The Hong Kong Jockey Club's new horse racing season is about to open, creating new highlights for horse racing tourism

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (Jockey Club) will officially start the 2025/226 new racing season on September 7th. The Hong Kong Jockey Club held a preseason press conference on the 2nd to announce that the "Lianhui" and "Tianma Post" located in the second stand of the Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong will be put into use successively. These two new facilities will provide a more immersive horse racing experience for more Hong Kong citizens and out of town tourists, especially the younger generation, through digital and scene based experiences, further enhancing the attractiveness and public participation of horse racing. The CEO of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Ying Ka Pak, stated that as a world-class sports and entertainment organization, the Jockey Club is committed to making horse racing and racecourse entertainment iconic events popular among local residents, mainland and overseas tourists, providing diversified services such as world-class sports events, live entertainment performances, and high-quality horse racing experiences. He introduced that the Hong Kong Jockey Club has invested over HKD 10 billion to launch a multi-year racecourse development plan, systematically renovating the Sha Tin and Happy Valley racecourses. In the next stage, an additional investment of HKD 4 billion will be made to continuously promote the upgrading of the racecourse, further realizing its vision of becoming a world-class sports and entertainment center. Ying Jiabai mentioned that the Hong Kong Jockey Club is actively promoting the renovation project of Penfold Park, which is expected to fully reopen in January 2026. Subsequently, in April 2026, a new "Pony Camp" facility will be launched in the park, which will provide equestrian education and cultural experience activities, enhancing the park's appeal to family visitors. In addition, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will officially launch the "Hong Kong Racecourse" WeChat mini program on September 11th, aiming to provide tourists with a more convenient and intelligent horse racing experience. This mini program customizes personalized itineraries for visitors, providing real-time recommendations on on-site dining and popular attractions, and assisting travelers in planning their visit routes. The mini program also provides electronic maps, clearly indicating the locations of must visit attractions and major facilities, and synchronously providing the latest race schedule and horse farm dynamics.
