The reporter learned from the Macau University of Science and Technology that Zhang Keke, Chief Scientist of the "Aoke-1" satellite project and Chair Professor at the Macau University of Science and Technology, won the highest scientific award in this field, the Shenkuo Award, from the International Association of Geomagnetism and Space Physics (IAGA) in Lisbon, Portugal on September 3. The Shen Kuo Award is the only academic award named after a Chinese scientist by an important international scientific organization, awarded every two years. Professor Zhang Keke is the first Chinese scientist to receive this award, and also the first Asian scientist to receive this award. In the award letter, Professor Kotte, Secretary General of IAGA, stated that the "Shen Kuo Award" for 2025 will be awarded to Professor Zhang Keke, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the fields of Earth generators, Earth core wave theory, and high-precision geomagnetic satellites in Macau, and acknowledging his world leading scientific research work in these areas. This award is a high recognition of the continuous progress and success of the Chinese scientific team in science and engineering. ”Zhang Keke stated that Shen Kuo is widely recognized as a great scientist in the form of an encyclopedia of ancient China, proficient in fields such as astronomy, mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, meteorology, geography, agriculture, medicine, and engineering technology. His work "Mengxi Bitan" is even hailed as a milestone in the history of Chinese science. It is reported that IAGA was established in 1919 with the aim of promoting international cooperation in the fields of geomagnetism and space physics. It has six disciplinary departments, including the Physics and Dynamics of the Earth's Interior and the Aerodynamics of the Earth's Atmosphere. IAGA holds a global conference every two years and awards the "Shen Kuo Award". The winners give special scientific presentations to the conference. The 2025 global conference will be held in Lisbon, Portugal. Since its establishment in 2006, the Shen Kuo Award has been awarded to six scientists from the United States, Canada, and European countries. Zhang Keke is the chief scientist and chief designer of the scientific application system for the "Aoke-1" satellite project. He introduced that the "Aoke-1" satellite project has signed exchange and cooperation research agreements with 18 internationally renowned research institutions, carried out a series of practical cooperation, and will hold the second "Aoke-1" satellite international symposium at Burlington House in London in 2026.
