These prominent features give her novel creation its own distinct artistic recognition. This time she released a new novel called 'Dongting Family', and I participated in a revision meeting to get a rough understanding of the writing background and editing process of this work. This may be the longest, most thoughtful, and most forceful experience she has had in her novel writing. This kind of wholehearted investment is also effective and rewarding. Whether it is the richness of life, the typicality of character shaping, or the richness of connotation and meaning in her works, they all surpass her previous works. This novel integrates people's daily livelihood struggles into the pace of social life and depicts the historical process of reform and opening up over the past forty years. The Song Changjiang family, whose ancestral home is by the Dongting Lake, can be considered a large family with a large population. In the early 1980s, in order to support their family, this family first established the "Song Family Fish Shop" and later founded eight types of fish food, named "Eight Immortals Chronicles". The female owner Xu Yuzhen mainly manages the small family workshop, while the male owner Song Changjiang, eldest son Song Mingze, and others devote all their energy and mind to emergency work such as managing the agricultural market and building dams. The main story of the work is about Song Mingze's various difficult experiences after returning to his hometown after demobilization. He faced the wind and rain of the times, contracted the agricultural market, opened a cooperative, and founded Hongyun Company, connecting his personal experience with the social changes and historical evolution since the reform and opening up. He closely linked his personal experience with the growth of his family business and the development and changes of the times, and wrote about the various opportunities provided by the reform and opening up situation. The Song family, represented by him, seized the opportunities and worked tirelessly to move forward. The events and typical examples of the resumption of the college entrance examination and the reform and opening up in Xiaogang Village, Anhui Province, have provided various inspirations and influences to the people in the lake area, which are all covered to varying degrees in the novel. The family narrative of such a big background and scene gives the work a strong sense of reality and the times, reflecting the magnificent historical process of the reform and opening up over the past forty years by depicting the fate changes of the Song family in Dongting Lake area, and realizing the pursuit of writing people and history through events and people. The author has created numerous character images with distinct personalities, among which the protagonist Song Mingze's image is the most prominent and typical. He was born into a family with multiple children. When he was young, he respected the elderly and supported the young. As an adult, he valued his teachers and friends. Through military experience, he also developed the unique qualities of a soldier. The east wind of reform and opening up is slowly blowing, and he seizes opportunities more sensitively than others, tries innovation more bravely, and closely links personal growth, family business and career development with social changes and the evolution of the times. Especially when several entrepreneurship attempts are strongly obstructed by various forces, he remains calm and composed, perseveres, dares to break through, always adheres to his own choices, and upholds his own ideas. Through adapting to the times, capturing people's hearts, benefiting the people, and other ways, he overcomes difficulties time and time again, overcomes obstacles one after another, and achieves a turning point and continuous growth in his career. This character embodies multiple spiritual realms such as reformer innovation and change, trendsetters daring to struggle, and entrepreneurs willing to dedicate themselves. It should be said that in current literary works, it is rare to portray the image of a private entrepreneur with such dedication, which also reflects the unique value of this work. The author also emphasizes the important role of women in family life and social development. These characters all have their own personalities, especially Cao Xiaoya. Her marriage and love with Song Mingze went through many twists and turns, but they did not go smoothly. However, she did not change her original intention, endured humiliation, remained calm in the face of chaos, and had self-respect and self-improvement, highlighting the healthy growth and outstanding style of modern women in the context of the new era. When focusing on shaping the character of the "Eight Immortals Mother", the author's writing is deeply imbued with high respect for mothers and motherhood, using many touching details to depict a typical image of a virtuous wife and mother. She nurtures and supports the family, is diligent and frugal in managing the household, adapts to market demand, creates her own agricultural and sideline products, and builds her own brand, making the Song family's "Eight Immortals Chronicles" brand well-known far and wide. The Dongting Family "tells the story of the Dongting family, reflecting the social evolution over the past forty years of reform and opening up, and revealing the touching new changes in the daily life and spiritual outlook of the people in the Dongting Lake area. Their hard work, perseverance, and dedication converge into a magnificent picture of forging ahead towards the future, composing a new song of Dongting Lake's great changes in the mountains and towns.
