The Inspiration of "18 ℃ Summer" with "Hot" Tourism

2025-09-09

In the hinterland of Liupan Mountain, towering trees and murmuring green water. Yejia Village at the foot of the mountain has set up more than 100 homestays and farmhouses, and there is a long queue in the front row of Niujie snack shops. Tourists at the RV camp of perfume Castle have stayed for more than a month... This is the most common glimpse of Jingyuan County, Guyuan City, Ningxia. This past summer, the new agricultural tourism IP "18 ℃ Summer" in Guyuan, Ningxia attracted many tourists to come and check in. According to official data from Guyuan, the local area received nearly 5 million tourists in July and August, a year-on-year increase of 13%; Drive the sales of local agricultural specialty products such as yellow beef, honey, mushrooms, and cold vegetables, as well as cultural and tourism consumption of 2.355 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10%. The "18 ℃ summer" not only highlights the cool climate of the local area, but also reflects the achievements of local ecological construction. Guyuan was once recognized by the United Nations as one of the least suitable areas for human survival due to issues such as soil erosion and ecological fragility. In recent years, the local government has firmly implemented the "Two Mountains" concept, carried out large-scale conversion of farmland to forests and grasslands, and comprehensive management of small watersheds. The forest coverage rate and grassland comprehensive vegetation coverage rate have continuously increased, reaching 17.7% and 87% respectively. The once barren and cold land has become the first United Nations "natural city" in northwest China. The excellent ecology has solidified the foundation of the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism, and the core of attracting and retaining tourists lies in finding the right characteristics. China has a vast territory with varying resource endowments and development foundations in different regions. Blindly copying projects from other places can easily lead to homogeneous competition. Only by adapting to local conditions and highlighting characteristics can sustainable development be achieved. Behind the "hot" tourism brought by the "18 ℃ summer" is Guyuan's ability to explore and amplify its own characteristics, in order to promote the deep integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism and form a "chemical reaction". Through rural tourism, night markets, study tours, as well as cultural and sports activities such as mountain flower festivals and forest off-road activities, tourists can fully experience the delicate quality of Liupanshan's ecology, climate resources, and agricultural products. This breaks down the barriers between agriculture, cultural tourism, processing, and other industries, achieving a growth effect of mutual expansion, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In recent years, the country has attached great importance to the integrated development of agriculture, culture, and tourism. From promoting the two-way flow of urban and rural factors, developing agricultural products and their derivative cultural experiences and leisure tourism projects with distinct regional characteristics and brand advantages, to connecting the "last mile" of rural tourism, the relevant policy system has been continuously improved, providing solid support for the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism. A number of highly recognizable fusion IPs have emerged in various regions. For example, the "Eastern foothills of Helan Mountain Wine" in northern Ningxia integrates grape cultivation, winemaking techniques, winery tourism, and art exhibitions; Yangmin Village, Wuping County, Fujian Province, is deeply exploring bamboo elements and extending the bamboo industry chain through the "Ten Mile Cuizhu" project; Developing a fishing village style and seafood cuisine tour at the "Ocean Ranch" in Shanwei, Guangdong; Guizhou Qiandongnan "Village BA" promotes local sports traditions and folk festivals; Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province, is dedicated to promoting the deep Song culture and revitalizing the creation of "Jiangnan Song Village". By tapping into local resource endowments and transforming them into perceptible, participatory, and communicable value experiences, these carefully crafted agricultural, cultural, and tourism IPs shine brightly. With the continuous deepening of the rural revitalization strategy, more agricultural, cultural, and tourism IPs are emerging and expanding, becoming an important lever and engine for local coordinated urban-rural development, activating development potential, and reshaping development patterns. Around the theme of "18 ℃ summer", Guyuan insists on going global and introducing resources, strengthening regional resource integration and functional complementarity, and promoting differentiated development. It has set up agricultural, cultural, and tourism promotion windows in 15 provinces and cities across the country, and continues to promote the formation of the Liupanshan tourism circle and industrial belt with distinct themes and characteristics. During the peak summer season, Yejia Village in Jingyuan County receives an average of about 3000 tourists per day, providing employment opportunities for nearly 400 people. This practice shows that in order to maximize the value of IP and truly make rural areas stronger and farmers richer, it is necessary to continuously explore and improve the development mechanism guided by the government, market operation, professional teams, and the participation of villagers, so that farmers can share more of the value-added benefits of the industry. Currently, the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism is accelerating its transformation from policy dividends to industrial dividends, promoting the transition of rural areas to diversified industries. Rural areas are increasingly becoming a new highland for coordinated urban-rural development and a poetic habitat that everyone yearns for. With the continuous implementation of favorable policies, we look forward to more rural areas regaining their confidence, having their own new consumer IPs, and bringing more "local specialties" to the whole country, showcasing a new picture of rural development that is beautiful and shared by all.
