On the occasion of the 100 day countdown to the island wide closure of Hainan Free Trade Port, the Hainan Free Trade Port Promotion Conference and Policy Interpretation Conference with the theme of "Hainan Hong Kong Cooperation, Mutual Benefit and Win Win" was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on the 9th. This event is hosted by the People's Government of Hainan Province, aiming to further enhance the understanding of Hainan Free Trade Port policies among all sectors of Hong Kong, comprehensively promote the achievements of Hainan Free Trade Port construction, more favorable and convenient policies and broad development opportunities after the closure operation, and promote deeper cooperation between Hainan and Hong Kong. Feng Fei, Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, said at the promotion meeting that the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port are both major national strategies, and the interactive development of the two is an important driving force for building a new development pattern and promoting domestic and international dual circulation. The full island closure operation of Hainan Free Trade Port will officially start on December 18, 2025, marking a new stage in the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. We look forward to strengthening all-round cooperation with Hong Kong, promoting the superposition and amplification of Hainan Free Trade Port's geographical advantages, spatial advantages, resource advantages with Hong Kong's development advantages, openness advantages, and international network advantages, and jointly enhancing regional influence and radiation power. The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Qiu Yinghua, stated that the government attaches great importance to the cooperation and exchanges between Hong Kong and Hainan, and will fully leverage Hong Kong's strengths to promote the coordinated development of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the Hainan Free Trade Port. At the same time, international projects will be introduced to Hainan to serve its capital investment in overseas markets, creating more mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation with Hainan, and jointly contributing to the high-quality development of the country and enhancing economic momentum. Tang Hua, Director of the Hainan International Economic Development Bureau, introduced that Hainan has advantages such as beautiful ecological environment, wide market radiation, high economic openness, and strong talent attraction. Hong Kong, on the other hand, has world-class scientific and technological research and development capabilities, financial service advantages, and international talent resources, which can provide technical, financial, and talent support services for Hainan enterprises and work together to develop new quality productivity. At the meeting, relevant units and enterprises from Hainan and Hong Kong signed 12 projects, covering multiple fields such as culture and tourism, technology, and food processing. More than 400 people, including the heads of central agencies stationed in Hong Kong, officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, and people from all walks of life in Hong Kong, attended the event.
