Prosecutor Uncle, I've been very happy lately and have made many new friends. "Recently, a prosecutor from Yuhu District Procuratorate in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province received a phone call, and on the other end of the line, Xiaoling (pseudonym)'s clear laughter was filled with excitement. The prosecutor knows that this girl, who was once shrouded in the shadow of domestic violence, has regained the sunshine of her childhood with judicial protection and multi-party care. In December 2024, teachers at Xiaoling's school discovered multiple abnormal bruises on her body and blood scabs behind her ears. They immediately took her to the hospital and reported her to the police. After investigation, when Xiaoling was 3 years old in 2020, her parents divorced and agreed to have her father Zhao take care of her. In July 2023, Zhao brought Xiaoling from her hometown to live with herself and her girlfriend Dong. During this period, Zhao and Dong abused Xiaoling for a long time due to trivial matters, using cruel methods, resulting in multiple soft tissue contusions on Xiaoling's body. After assessment, the degree of injury constituted minor injury level two. After the incident, the Yuhu District Prosecutor's Office promptly intervened in accordance with the law to guide the investigation. The prosecutor focuses on key points such as the causes of injuries, the methods of violence, and their persistence, guiding the public security organs to comprehensively collect and fix evidence, and build a complete and rigorous evidence chain. The public security organs have transferred Dong to the procuratorial organs for examination and prosecution on suspicion of abusing the ward or caregiver. After examination, the handling prosecutor believes that both Dong and Zhao are family members who live with Xiaoling, and their behavior is suspected of abuse. As a result, the Yuhu District Prosecutor's Office lawfully prosecuted the two individuals. In June of this year, the court sentenced Zhao and Dong to one year and seven months in prison respectively for the crime of abuse. Punishing crime is not the end, only by allowing children to completely emerge from the darkness and ensuring their healthy growth can the warmth of justice be reflected. ”During the case, the Yuhu District Prosecutor's Office simultaneously launched comprehensive rescue and protection work. In response to the personal injury suffered by Xiaoling, the court supported her in filing a civil lawsuit in accordance with the law, and Dong compensated for medical expenses and other costs in court. Considering that Zhao's behavior seriously damaged Xiaoling's physical and mental health, it is not suitable to continue raising Xiaoling. The court supports Xiaoling's mother in filing a lawsuit to change custody and pursue child support. After mediation by the court, Xiaoling's custody was transferred to her mother, and Zhao paid monthly child support until Xiaoling reached adulthood. In addition, after Zhao and Dong were subjected to compulsory measures, the hospital quickly contacted the community to provide Xiaoling with a safe and warm temporary residence and necessary living care. It also collaborated with the Women's Federation and the school to tailor a long-term psychological counseling intervention plan for Xiaoling, helping her heal her psychological trauma and gradually return to normal life. Now, Xiaoling has moved with her mother to a new environment, transferred to a new school, and opened a new chapter in her life. (New Society)
