On September 11th, data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed that in the first eight months of this year, the cumulative production and sales of automobiles in China reached 21.051 million and 21.128 million respectively, an increase of 12.7% and 12.6% year-on-year. It is worth noting that this is the first time in the first 8 months that the production and sales volume of China's automobile market has exceeded 21 million units. In August, China's automobile production and sales reached 2.815 million and 2.857 million respectively, with a month on month increase of 8.7% and 10.1%, and a year-on-year increase of 13.0% and 16.4%, respectively. Behind this remarkable achievement, the performance of the new energy vehicle industry is particularly outstanding, not only continuing to make efforts in the domestic market, but also becoming the main engine of China's automobile export growth, demonstrating strong competitiveness in the global market. Chen Shihua, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that in August, China's macroeconomic prosperity level continued to expand in general, and the production and sales of automobiles in that month maintained a year-on-year growth of more than 10%. The "two new" policies continue to be implemented, and policies such as financial subsidies for personal consumption loans are timely introduced. Enterprises are enthusiastic about launching new car models, and the comprehensive rectification of "internal competition" in the industry continues to be effective. Domestic market: The penetration rate of new energy vehicles is steadily increasing. From the performance of the domestic market, the production and sales data of new energy vehicles are particularly prominent. In the first eight months of this year, the cumulative production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 9.625 million and 9.62 million respectively, an increase of 37.3% and 36.7% year-on-year. New energy vehicle sales accounted for 45.5% of the total new vehicle sales. In August alone, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.391 million and 1.395 million respectively, with a month on month increase of 11.9% and 10.5%, and a year-on-year increase of 27.4% and 26.8%. The sales of new energy vehicles accounted for 48.8% of the total sales of new cars. This data indicates that the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the domestic market is steadily increasing, and consumers' acceptance of new energy vehicles is growing. From the perspective of product structure, the new energy vehicle market presents a trend of diversified development. Pure electric vehicles still dominate, but the market share of plug-in hybrid vehicles is growing rapidly. In the first eight months of this year, the sales growth rate of plug-in hybrid vehicles was significantly higher than that of pure electric vehicles, becoming a new growth highlight in the market. This reflects that with the continuous advancement of technology and the increasing diversification of consumer demands, the new energy vehicle market can provide a richer product selection to meet the usage scenarios and preferences of different consumers. Along with the overall growth of the domestic automobile market, the passenger car market has shown strong performance. In the first eight months of this year, the cumulative production and sales of passenger cars reached 18.338 million and 18.384 million respectively, an increase of 13.6% and 13.8% year-on-year. Among the main types of passenger cars, the production and sales of sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and crossover passenger cars have all achieved varying degrees of growth. In terms of the commercial vehicle market, in the first eight months of this year, the cumulative production and sales of commercial vehicles reached 2.713 million and 2.744 million respectively, an increase of 7.1% and 5.2% year-on-year. Compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of buses and trucks have shown varying degrees of growth in the main varieties of commercial vehicles. In August alone, the production and sales of commercial vehicles reached 315000 and 316000 respectively, an increase of 16.4% and 16.3% year-on-year. Zhang Xiang, a visiting professor at Huanghe University of Science and Technology, told reporters: "The good prosperity of the automobile market is due to the stable recovery of the domestic economy, the improvement of residents' consumption ability, and the continuous launch of new car models that meet market demand by automobile manufacturers. At the same time, the continuous optimization of automobile consumption policies has also stimulated consumers' demand for car purchases to a certain extent." International market: While the export of new energy vehicles is booming in the domestic market, China's automobile exports have also continued to show a positive trend, and new energy vehicles have become the absolute main force driving the growth of automobile exports. In the first eight months of this year, automobile exports reached 4.292 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%, with the contribution of new energy vehicles being indispensable. Data shows that in the first eight months of this year, the export volume of new energy vehicles continued to rise, and the cumulative export volume reached a new height, with a year-on-year growth far exceeding that of traditional fuel vehicles. In the first eight months of this year, traditional fuel vehicles were exported 2.76 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 6.6%. And the export of new energy vehicles was 1.532 million units, a year-on-year increase of 87.3%. Among them, the export of new energy passenger vehicles was 1.473 million units, a year-on-year increase of 85.1%; The export of new energy commercial vehicles reached 58000 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.7 times. From the perspective of segmented categories, the export growth rate of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles is significantly higher than that of pure electric vehicles. In the first eight months of this year, the export of pure electric vehicles increased by 52% year-on-year, while the export volume of plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 2.2 times year-on-year, indicating a strong demand for diversified new energy vehicle technologies in the global market. Many overseas consumers, when considering new energy vehicles, not only focus on the range, but also begin to pay attention to the comprehensive performance and usage cost of the vehicle under different working conditions. Plug in hybrid vehicles can precisely meet these needs. Key enterprises have shown strong performance in exports, with significant head effects. For example, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., with its rich product line and comprehensive overseas sales network, exported 795000 vehicles in the first eight months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%. BYD Co., Ltd. has rapidly expanded its market share in overseas markets in a short period of time with its leading new energy technology and constantly innovative products. Data shows that in the first eight months of this year, BYD Co., Ltd. exported 634000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 1.3 times. In addition, companies such as Shanghai Automotive Group Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. are actively expanding into overseas markets, enhancing the market adaptability and brand influence of their products through localized production and building sales and service outlets, and jointly promoting the continuous expansion of China's automobile export scale.
