The construction of the first industry standard pre release intelligent computing center is moving towards standardization
2025-09-18
At the first AIDC Industry Development Conference held in Shanghai on September 17th, the industry's first systematic standard document for AIDC (Intelligent Computing Center) construction, the AIDC Infrastructure Specification (hereinafter referred to as the "Specification"), was released. Industry insiders believe that this "Specification," led by the Global Computing Consortium (GCC) and jointly compiled by dozens of leading companies in the industry chain, is expected to move the construction of intelligent computing centers from the exploratory period of individual exploration to a new stage of standardized development with rules to follow. Currently, the wave of artificial intelligence is sweeping the world, and the demand for computing power is exploding. The rapid expansion of computing power scale is also posing unprecedented challenges to the infrastructure of computer rooms. The Chairman of the Global Computing Alliance, Jin Hai, summarized it as the three major challenges of "heat, electricity, and space", coupled with the lack of standards and long construction cycles, the dilemma of "AI and other computer rooms" has become a core bottleneck restricting industrial development - AI technology iteration is rapid, while traditional computer room construction takes 6 to 8 months, often resulting in a passive situation where technology waits for infrastructure. Huawei director and ICT BG CEO Yang Chaobin also pointed out that with the significant growth of individual computing power clusters and server power, liquid cooled data centers are becoming the future trend of intelligent computing centers. However, compared to standardized traditional air-cooled data centers, the industrial chain and standardized construction of liquid cooled data centers urgently need to be improved. With the pre release of the 'Regulations', the industry will enter a new paradigm with rules to follow. ”Shen Zhiyue, a senior engineer at the China Electronics Standardization Institute, explained in detail the three core values of the "Specification": firstly, to accurately solve the dilemma of "AI and other computer rooms", by clarifying the unified standards and paths for design, construction, and operation, the completion cycle of computer rooms is shortened from 6 to 8 months to 3 months, significantly reducing the cost of industry exploration and trial and error, and ensuring that computing power delivery keeps up with the pace of AI technology development; Secondly, significantly reduce the total cost of the industry, promote the large-scale application of efficient heat dissipation technologies such as liquid cooling through standardization, and help achieve the goal of green and low-carbon development; Thirdly, to guide orderly competition in the industry, the "Norms" have gathered consensus from dozens of leading enterprises, providing clear interface standards and collaborative frameworks for upstream and downstream enterprises, and promoting the development of the industrial ecosystem from point by point breakthroughs to systematic development. While ensuring the guidance of the Standards, the industry pays more attention to reserving sufficient space for technological innovation. Shen Zhiyue stated that the development of the "Norms" adheres to the principle of "focusing on the big and focusing on the small", only setting performance benchmarks, safety criteria, and interface specifications, without restricting specific technical paths and processes, and preserving innovative competition space for diverse technological routes; The process of compiling the "Specification" brings together global computing alliances, standardization organizations, and the wisdom of the entire industry chain, based on practical feasibility and predicting future trends to ensure the forward-looking nature of the standards; And the 'Norms' will continue to iterate, and after its official release, it will still be dynamically revised and improved based on market practices. Miao Fuyou, CTO of the Secretariat of the Global Computing Alliance, also stated that deep user participation is an important guarantee for the scientific nature of standards. As pain point perceivers and ultimate purchasers, users' needs can accurately drive industry chain collaboration, making the "Specification" more in line with practical applications. The "Specification" pre released this time is version 0.6, which is planned to be upgraded to version 1.0 from November to December this year. Subsequently, updated versions such as version 1.1 will be continuously released according to industry demand. The iteration pace is much faster than traditional standards and is more suitable for the rapid development of the AIDC industry. To promote continuous collaborative innovation in the industry, Ju Keyi, the head of the Industry Communication Department of the Global Computing Alliance, revealed that the AIDC Industry Development Conference will be fixed as an annual event. In the future, plans are being made to add various forms such as sub forums and exhibitions, and expand to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and other regions to form a long-term mechanism for tracking and solving industry pain points. Industry insiders believe that with the gradual improvement and implementation of the "Regulations", coupled with collaborative innovation across the entire industry chain, the AIDC industry is ushering in a new starting point for standardization and high-quality development, laying a solid foundation for the surging development of the artificial intelligence industry in terms of computing power.
