Recently, the expert seminar for the 24th volume of the "Chinese Translation of World Academic Classics Series" was held at the Commercial Press. The "Chinese Translation of World Academic Classics Series" began to be compiled and published in 1981. After more than 40 years, it embodies the efforts of several generations of scholars and publishers. It is the largest and most important academic translation project in the history of modern publishing in China, covering disciplines such as philosophy, politics, law, society, history, geography, economics, management, language, and art. Gu Qing, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Director of the Commercial Press, mentioned in his speech that the "Chinese Translation of World Academic Classics Series" has grown to 1000 varieties by 2024, and the series has been awarded the "2023/2024 Publishing Brand" by Baidao Network. The publishing team of the series has also been awarded the title of "Youth Civilization" by China Publishing Group Limited, and received the National Youth May Fourth Medal Collective Award in May this year. These honors are not only recognition, but also a powerful driving force to forge ahead. At present, the series is standing at a new starting point towards 2000 varieties, and we hope that experts will continue to help select good books for the "Chinese translation of classics". Gu Qing introduced that the selected books for this review were mainly from the two major product line groups of the Commercial Press - "Master Collection" and various subject theme translation collections. The best ones were selected from the best ones, and most of the books have passed academic verification and market testing. In the selection process, the editorial department not only adheres to the consistent principle of "famous authors, classic works, and famous translations", but also responds to the call of the new era, striving to make the perspective of the series more open and the disciplines more comprehensive.
