The ethnic opera "Liuzhou" was recently performed in Shanghai. The drama, with exquisite artistic vocabulary and profound humanistic care, sings the people-oriented ideas of Liu Zongyuan's "officials serving the people" and "Lian Yuanyuan" along the Huangpu River, completing a spiritual dialogue that spans thousands of years. The innovative fusion of Central Plains Tang poetry Yuefu and Guangxi ethnic mountain songs in "Liuzhou" cleverly embeds classic lines of Liu Zongyuan's poetry such as "Lonely boat with bamboo hat and Weng, fishing alone in the snow of the cold river" in the lyrics, showcasing the artistic charm and emotional power that appeal to both the refined and the popular. In terms of music, it not only reproduces the solemn and ancient style of Central Plains elegant music, but also integrates Guangxi folk tones, forming an artistic tension that transcends time and space in the collision of tradition and modernity. Visually on stage, through poetic scenery and multimedia interaction, the scenery of Guangxi and the atmosphere of the Tang Dynasty are ingeniously reconstructed, leading the audience to immerse themselves in Liu Zongyuan's spiritual world and embarking on a cultural journey from the depths of history to the modern soul. In order to get closer to historical reality, Wang Liang, a young tenor from Guangxi Song and Dance Theater, deeply studied Liu Zongyuan's poetry and historical materials. From walking, sitting, and lying down to expressing emotions, he carefully examined the spiritual core of the characters, and ultimately successfully portrayed a "muscular, warm, and emotional" Liu Zongyuan on stage. Classic scenes such as "running schools to release slaves" and "digging wells to plant willows" not only vividly depict the achievements of a generation of literati, but also reflect the deep respect and understanding of local historical figures by Guangxi literary and artistic workers. The sincerity of 'hometown people playing hometown talents' has become the most touching cultural background of the entire drama. The ethnic opera "Liuzhou" was rehearsed by Guangxi Song and Dance Theater, and participated jointly by Guangxi Symphony Orchestra, Guangxi Acrobatic Troupe, and Guangxi Academy of Arts. It is reported that after the performance in Shanghai, the play will go to Hangzhou to participate in the 19th China Drama Festival, and then go to Chongqing to participate in the 14th China Art Festival.
