The 15th China ASEAN Member States Prosecutors General Meeting was held in Hong Kong on the 23rd. The conference, with the theme of "Combating Money Laundering, Corruption Crimes, and Fund Recovery in the Digital Age", calls on all countries to work together to address relevant challenges in the digital age. This conference is hosted by the Supreme People's Procuratorate of the People's Republic of China and organized by the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. About 80 prosecutors general and representatives of prosecution agencies from China and ASEAN member countries attended. At the opening ceremony, Ying Yong, the Chief Prosecutor of China and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, stated that the theme of this conference reflects the common understanding of all parties involved in money laundering, corruption, and the harm of cross-border transfer of illegal funds, and reflects the common desire of procuratorial organs of various countries to strengthen international cooperation in anti money laundering and anti-corruption. The Chinese procuratorial organs are willing to further strengthen understanding and cooperation with the procuratorial organs of ASEAN countries, continuously deepen cooperation in the recovery of criminal funds, better work together to maintain regional security and stability, and promote common development. Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao thanks the central government for organizing and supporting the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to host this conference. He stated that the cooperative relationship between the country and ASEAN has a long history and is a good neighbor, friend, and partner. As the only jurisdiction under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy that implements bilingual common law in Chinese and English, Hong Kong is committed to upholding the rule of law and has sufficient conditions to become an international legal and dispute resolution service center in the Asia Pacific region. In the digital age, all regions should work together to use innovative technology to deal with the constantly emerging criminals and create a safe future. In his speech, the Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Lam Ting kuo, said that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has maintained close legal cooperation with ASEAN member countries under the framework of "One Country, Two Systems", including signing bilateral judicial assistance agreements, carrying out cooperation based on reciprocal commitments, and fulfilling international conventions related to transnational crime. Hong Kong will continue to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN member countries in combating cross-border crime to respond to the latest developments in the regional economic and social situation. After the opening ceremony, a plenary session was held, in which Ying Yong, Lin Dingguo, Prosecutor General of the Macao Special Administrative Region Prosecutor's Office Chen Zijin, and heads of delegations from ASEAN member countries delivered speeches on the theme of the conference.
