On September 29th, with the opening and operation of three intercity railways and two subway lines on the same day, the formation of the "1-hour living circle" in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area accelerated. The intercity railways that were put into operation on that day were Guangzhou East Ring Intercity (Panyu Baiyun Airport North), PaLian Intercity (Pazhou Station Guangzhou Lianhuashan Station), and Guanghui Intercity North Extension (Xiaojinkou Huizhou North), achieving seamless operation with intercity railways such as Guanghui, Guangzhao, and Guangqing. Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan can quickly access the core area of Guangzhou Pazhou Convention and Exhibition Center, Guangzhou International Financial City, and Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. After the opening of the new line, departing from Pazhou Station in Guangzhou, it takes 30 minutes to reach Baiyun Airport, 30 minutes to reach the central urban areas of Foshan and Dongguan, and 60 minutes to reach the central urban areas of Shenzhen Airport, Zhaoqing, and Huizhou. These three intercity railways have a total of 16 stations, of which 2 stations can transfer to the national railway mainline and 7 stations can transfer to urban rail transit. The relevant person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transport said that the opening of the new line has enabled the intersection and connection of national railways, intercity railways, and urban rail transit, and the backbone network of intercity railways in the Guangzhou metropolitan area has been basically formed. This is a solid step towards achieving a seamless and interconnected intercity railway network in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, which will promote the high-speed flow and efficient aggregation of various production factors. On the 29th, Guangzhou Metro Line 13 Phase II (Tianhe Park Yuzhu), Line 14 Phase II (Jiahewang-Lejia Road), and Line 11 Guangzhou East Station were also opened simultaneously. Liu Zhicheng, Chairman of Guangzhou Metro Group, introduced that by the end of 2025, the mileage of "subway+intercity+tram" operated by Guangzhou Metro Group will exceed 1300 kilometers. According to statistics from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transport, as of the end of 2024, the railway operating mileage of the nine cities in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area has exceeded 2800 kilometers, and the urban rail transit operating mileage has reached 1477 kilometers.
