The Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and Chairman of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Preparatory Committee for the 15th National Games, Chen Guoji, held a preparatory committee meeting on the 6th to comprehensively review and supervise various preparatory work, make full preparations for the upcoming event, ensure that all departments are ready and all personnel are in place, and jointly welcome this national event. Chen Guoji stated that the preparations for the Hong Kong competition area have entered the final sprint stage, and the SAR government will continue to make every effort to showcase a "simple, safe, and exciting" national event together with Guangdong Province and Macao SAR. He looks forward to welcoming athletes from all over the country and audiences from all over the world together with the people of Hong Kong, and calls on Hong Kong citizens to seize the opportunity, actively purchase tickets, enter the venue to cheer for athletes, and personally witness this sports event held for the first time in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong division will be responsible for hosting 8 competitive events and 1 mass event of the National Games, as well as 4 competitive events and 1 mass event of the Paralympic Games. During the entire competition period, there will be over 2100 athletes, 1000 delegation officials, and over 800 technical officials, totaling nearly 4000 people participating in the Hong Kong competition area. In addition, hundreds of media personnel will come to Hong Kong for interviews. In terms of transportation and reception, the four designated entry and exit ports in the Hong Kong competition area, including Hong Kong International Airport, West Kowloon High Speed Rail Station, Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge, and Shenzhen Bay Port, will set up exclusive entry and exit channels to provide assistance for delegations (including athletes and related personnel), technical officials, and media in entering and exiting the country, and arrange vehicles to transport them to and from ten hotels throughout Hong Kong. In terms of information systems, the Digital Policy Office of the Special Administrative Region Government is responsible for the construction of the core information system and network infrastructure for the Hong Kong competition area. The development and testing of the system were successfully completed in September. We are currently conducting pre match joint system testing and practical exercises with Guangdong Province and Macao SAR to ensure seamless integration of the three systems, enhance cross-border coordination and response capabilities in system operation and network security, and make final deployment for the event. In terms of volunteers, the Hong Kong division of the National Games and Special Olympics has appointed over 16000 volunteers, including more than 1000 young volunteers, forming the largest volunteer team in Hong Kong's history. In terms of ticket sales, tickets for eight competition events in the Hong Kong division of the National Games, namely beach volleyball, handball (men's), basketball (men's under 22 group), rugby sevens, golf, track cycling, triathlon, and fencing, have started to be sold. In addition, licensed retail stores have been established in various districts of Hong Kong, including the Kai Tak Sports Park Retail Centre, the West Kowloon Station of the High Speed Rail, the Immigration Tower in Wan Chai, the Kowloon Visitor Information Centre of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, and the post office. Three local free to air television stations and Radio Television Hong Kong have obtained broadcasting rights, allowing citizens to watch the matches for free on television. (New Society)
