On October 18th, the celebration ceremony for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the National Humanities Base (referred to as the "Humanities Base") of Guangxi Normal University and the seminar on cultivating outstanding talents were held in Guilin, Guangxi. Over the past thirty years, as the "vanguard" and "experimental field" of the humanities and social sciences disciplines at Guangxi Normal University, the liberal arts base has achieved outstanding teaching and research results. In recent years, the liberal arts base has hosted 3 major bidding projects of the National Social Science Fund, 6 key projects of the National Social Science Fund, and more than 30 other projects of the National Social Science Fund, and has won the Excellent Achievement Award for Scientific Research in Higher Education Institutions from the Ministry of Education; Conducted Chinese language teacher training in 6 cities in Guangxi, cultivating more than 2000 backbone teachers. It is reported that the liberal arts base actively promotes Sino foreign cooperative education. At present, the liberal arts base has launched 14 "3+1" cooperation projects with universities in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea and other countries, taking the lead in conducting overseas internships for master's students in Chinese international education, and building more than 50 overseas internship practice bases. Relying on the National Language and Writing Promotion Base, the Humanities Base has promoted Mandarin to over 50000 people, exported Chinese courses to ASEAN countries, trained more than 300 international Chinese teachers, and contributed "great strength" to the promotion of Chinese. At the seminar on cultivating outstanding talents held after the ceremony, many experts and alumni who have been working in the field of education for many years reviewed the details of the struggle history of the establishment of the National Humanities Base, and focused on the core issue of how to more effectively cultivate outstanding talents needed in the era under the wave of "new humanities". They explored the concepts, challenges, paths, and methods of cultivating outstanding talents from different dimensions. Many fields of work can be replaced by machines, but the construction of humanities, general education, and the use of humanities as a 'cultural person' have always been the unique uses of their education. ”Zhang Yanling, an alumnus of Guangxi Normal University and the chairman of Guangxi Literature and Art Critics Association, said at the event that the cultivation of top-notch talents in the new liberal arts has great prospects. Huang Xiaojuan, Vice President of Guangxi Normal University, expressed her hope that the liberal arts base will actively explore cutting-edge directions such as digital humanities, independent knowledge system construction, and integration of arts, science, culture, and engineering, design and develop interdisciplinary courses and projects, deeply cultivate regional ethnic culture, basic education, and other advantageous fields, and demonstrate new achievements in leading the construction of new liberal arts.
