The Palace Museum in Hong Kong recently announced that 250 precious cultural relics from the "Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition - Egyptian Museum Collection" have been successfully delivered to the museum. The exhibition will be open to the public from November 20, 2025 to August 31, 2026. It is reported that the exhibition is jointly organized by the Palace Museum of Hong Kong and the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt. It is the largest, most comprehensive, and longest lasting exhibition of ancient Egyptian cultural relics in Hong Kong's history. For the first time, Egypt has directly lent out its precious local collections and recently unearthed archaeological discoveries to Hong Kong. All exhibited cultural relics are exclusively owned and directly loaned out by the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt. The exhibition is divided into four main thematic units, showcasing 250 cultural relics from seven museums including the National Museum of Egypt, the Suez Museum, and the Luxor Museum. The exhibition will also showcase the latest major archaeological discoveries of the massive cemetery Sakala in the southern capital of Memphis, Cairo. The exhibits span nearly 4000 years of history, including giant statues, stone tablets, mummy coffins and masks, jewelry, daily necessities, and animal mummies, many of which are exhibited outside of Egypt for the first time. In addition, more than 10 sets of multimedia devices will be installed inside and outside the exhibition hall to provide visitors with vivid and rich visiting experiences, including reproducing the process of mummification and the excavation site of Tutankhamun's tomb. The team at the Palace Museum in Hong Kong utilized modeling, 3D light projection, and digital color reconstruction techniques to finely restore the complete form of the Tutankhamun statue. The museum will also launch a series of exhibition related cultural and creative products and publications, as well as rich educational activities, allowing audiences of different age groups to deeply understand ancient Egyptian culture in a relaxed and interesting way.
