A group photo of foreign students studying in Guangdong, exploring the ancient charm of Shaoguan and exploring the Lingnan cultural context. Located in the Maba Ren Site Park in Qujiang District, Shaoguan City, it is one of the four major site parks in Guangdong. The site is famous both domestically and internationally for the discovery of ancient skull fossils dating back 130000 years, as well as the coexistence of the "Shixia Site" from both the New and Old Stone Ages. The main body of the park is located on Lion Rock, which resembles a reclining lion. The park not only preserves precious relics of ancient human activities, but also boasts magnificent limestone landforms in the surrounding rock caves. The research group visited Lion Rock, crossed the forest along the Beijiang River, and examined the historical relics of early Homo sapiens. A statue of an ancient man from Maba sits quietly inside, as if waiting for a visitor from afar, initiating a silent dialogue between ancient and modern China and foreign cultures. After visiting the site, the research group walked into the Maba People's Museum to systematically understand the development process of the Maba people and experience the long-standing history and culture of Lingnan. I have heard of the Maba people Shixia site in Liaoning before, and this firsthand experience feels great, "said Khalid from Pakistan." I am increasingly fond of and want to learn more about China. China has a very long history, especially ancient history, which is particularly interesting and deeply attracts us. "Fidan from Azerbaijan exclaimed after visiting the museum," China is one of the countries with the longest history. If you want to understand and perceive history, this is undoubtedly an excellent choice. "Salwa from Yemen She also shared, "I love China." She said, "Even though I have been to many countries, I have never had such a shocking experience in a historical site. Even though the teachers have told many stories, the feeling of being there is completely different - history seems to come to life. Understanding China cannot rely solely on reading, one must come and see for oneself. Shaoguan is really amazing!" Khalid (Pakistan) Salwa (Yemen, left) and Fidan (Azerbaijan, right), as traditional crafts selected for the seventh batch of intangible cultural heritage list in Shaoguan City in 2018, Qujiang Chaishao pottery adheres to the ancient Chaishao technique and emphasizes the delicate balance of the relationship between soil, fire, firewood, and kiln. It is known as the art of mud and fire. A group of foreign students studying in Guangdong walked into the Qujiang District Chaishao Pottery Intangible Cultural Heritage Workstation to gain a deeper understanding of this traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage technique and personally experience the pottery making process. The series of manual processes such as refining clay, shaping clay, and pre designing firewood paths vividly showcase the unique charm of Qujiang's simple path of firewood fired pottery. After several hours of production, the works of foreign students studying in Guangdong gradually took shape. Khalid from Pakistan was inspired by ancient Chinese bronze tripods and deliberately attempted to make a tripod shaped pottery. He excitedly held the embryonic work in his hand and said, "I just saw a physical Chinese tripod in the museum. Although this is my first time trying to make it, the effect is even better than expected." French student Jalil said that although the process of making pottery is not easy, it is full of fun, and this experience has also given him a deeper understanding of Chinese pottery. Since ancient times, Shaoguan has nurtured a unique local culture with its unique geographical features and profound historical accumulation, and the ancient buildings scattered in the urban and rural areas of Shaoguan are important witnesses to this heavy historical book. The research group visited Shitang Ancient Village in Shitang Town, Renhua County, and explored the ruins of Qing Dynasty ancient architecture - Shuangfengzhai. According to the local red culture guide, Shuangfeng Village was originally named "Rongyang Village" and commonly known as "Shitang Village". Later, it was named after a mountain range facing each other in front of and behind the village, taking the meaning of "Shuangfeng Guarantee", and it has been used to this day. The ancient style and charm of Shuangfengzhai itself also deeply attract foreign students studying in Guangdong. They climbed up to the second floor of the fortress wall and walked between narrow stairs and corridors, as if stepping into a time tunnel and conversing with history. Under the guidance of the guide, foreign students not only clarified the structure and function of this building, but also gained a deeper understanding of the story of the "Battle of Shuangfengzhai" that occurred here, and deeply felt the heroic spirit and firm belief of the Chinese revolutionary pioneers. After a detailed visit, Dimitris from Greece said, "This building fascinates me. Although Greece has many ancient castles, the architectural style of Shuangfengzhai is completely different from ours, with unique design details such as shooting holes and circular portholes." Dimitris (Greece) is only a few hundred meters away from Shuangfengzhai, and is located in the Shitang Ancient Village architectural complex, which enjoys the reputation of "China's Historical and Cultural Famous Village" and "Top Ten Most Distinctive Ancient Villages in Guangdong Province". Today, there are still 133 ancient buildings well preserved in the village, of which 106 are structurally intact, making them representative ancient villages in the Shaoguan area that are large-scale and well preserved. At the same time, "Shitang Moon Sister Song" and "Shitang Duihua Rice Wine Brewing Techniques" have been included in the Guangdong Province Intangible Cultural Heritage List. As a unique folk art form, "Moon Sister Song" has more than thirty melodies and is passed down through forms such as duets and duets. Shitang rice wine, on the other hand, is renowned for its mellow taste and has become a pillar industry in the local history, thanks to its high-quality underground water sources and three hundred years of brewing techniques. As foreign students in Guangdong stroll along the ancient path, gentle southern melodies can be heard from the blue brick and gray tile ancient houses, and the air is filled with the fragrance of wine, creating a cultural feast that combines visual, auditory, and olfactory senses. They also visited the rice wine distillery in the village, tasted traditional Chinese rice wine and innovative flavors of rice wine such as passion fruit and lychee, and deeply experienced the inheritance and innovation of this intangible cultural heritage technique. While Shaoguan is rapidly developing modern agriculture with the help of technology, the local big data industry is also showing vigorous vitality. The research group visited the Shaoguan Zhongdian Yingshuo South China Numerical Valley Intelligent Computing Center and experienced the innovative vitality of this modern computing power highland firsthand. It is reported that as an important digital infrastructure serving the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, the center is equipped with world-class computing power facilities and security systems, and plans to build an AI heterogeneous computing power pool to fully support the development needs of regional intelligence. The on-site visit left a deep impression on foreign students studying abroad. Siddiq, from Paris, France, said, "The level of development here is beyond expectations, and I deeply felt the innovation and vitality of Shaoguan during the visit." German student Lea admitted, "I thought Shaoguan was an ordinary small town, but I didn't expect technology and agriculture to develop in parallel here, which was surprising." French student Mathis observed that "industrial development and natural environment coexist harmoniously in Shaoguan, demonstrating China's firm determination on the path of sustainable development." Siddiq (France, back right), Mathis (France, front left), Lea (Germany, front right) shared their feelings after the visit. The research group strolled along the path of the pomelo forest, with small houses nestled in the woods. The air was filled with the rich aroma of pomelo, which made one's lips and teeth feel refreshed. On the shelves on both sides of the small house, rows of golden and plump Shatian pomelos are neatly displayed, making people stop and admire. This is Jinzhe Garden in Changba Village, Renhua County, Shaoguan City. For seventeen years, Jinzhe Garden has been deeply cultivating the Shatian pomelo industry, covering an area of about 1100 acres, with a planting area of about 600 acres and approximately 13000 Shatian pomelos. The important stops of this study tour, Zhang Jiuling Memorial Park and Shaozhou Historical and Cultural Museum, are set up to pursue the millennium cultural heritage of this land. Zhang Jiuling was the first outstanding figure in Lingnan during the prosperous Tang Dynasty to pass the imperial examination and become a prime minister. He was praised by Su Shi as the only minister who remained upright at the end of the Tang Dynasty's Kaiyuan period. To commemorate this sage, Shaoguan City built the Zhang Jiuling Memorial Park in Huilong Mountain in September 2021. The park is located at the junction of Zhenjiang, Wujiang, and Qujiang districts, relying on the beautiful scenery along the Beijiang River. It is a great place for leisure climbing and experiencing history. The Shaozhou Historical and Cultural Museum is an important part of the Zhang Jiuling Memorial Park. The entire building is designed in the style of Tang Dynasty pavilions, consisting of a main pavilion, four watchtowers, and a connecting corridor. The members of the research group travel through multiple immersive scenes in the museum - from simulating the imperial examination room to experiencing customs clearance in the Qing Dynasty, conversing with "living" historical figures, and truly experiencing the historical pulse of the land in northern Guangdong.
