The Diary hides the Original Aspiration: The Youthful Oath and Homeland Sentiment of a Anti Japanese War General

The rise and fall of the country is the responsibility of every individual. "In a diary with yellowed pages and mottled handwriting at the home of a member of the Hainan Democratic Revolution Party, these eight powerful characters have been clear for decades and remain as clear as yesterday. This is the resolute oath written by the anti Japanese general Lu Quan in his youth, and it has become a vivid footnote to his lifelong patriotism. Recently, I walked into the Hainan Democratic Revolution Party Member's Home and listened to the speech of Lin Qing, the nephew of Lu Quansun and the full-time vice chairman of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Democratic Revolution. Through precious diary manuscripts and oral history, the image of a soldier who came from an intellectual background and stepped forward in times of national crisis is presented before our eyes. In 1917, Lu Quan was born into a scholarly family in Haikou. However, the situation was turbulent, the family's fortunes were declining, and the whole family's life was in a difficult situation, barely making ends meet by renting half a small house. Despite living in poverty, the young Lu Quan always adhered to family rules and studied diligently without stopping. In February 1939, the Japanese army invaded Hainan Island. With a patriotic fervor, Lu Quan spontaneously participated in the People's Self Defense War, but ultimately lost due to a significant disparity in strength. He wrote heavily in his diary: "Supported by the idea of not wanting to be a slave to the fallen country, he resolutely fled to the mainland... With only over 20 yuan in hand, Liuzhou in Guangxi was the headquarters of the Fourth War Zone, and the resistance needed young people... determined to go to Liuzhou." That night, he knelt down to bid farewell to his mother, searched for a boat to cross north to Zhanjiang, and walked all the way to Liuzhou in Guangxi. In his diary, he wrote, 'The rise and fall of the country is the responsibility of every man.' It was this belief that supported him all the way to Liuzhou. He was dressed in tattered clothes like a beggar, and only when he heard the local dialect of Hainan on the streets did he meet a deputy battalion commander and join the 9th Division of the Second Army of the National Revolutionary Army, "Lin Qing recalled. With a solid cultural foundation, Lu Quan successfully enrolled in the 16th Infantry Division of Huangpu Military Academy to receive systematic military education. After graduation, he returned to the army and devoted himself to the forefront of the Anti Japanese War. During the War of Resistance Against Japan in the North and South, Lu Quan fought in both directions and went through several major battles. He participated in the ambush battles in Dangyang and Anyuan, witnessed the beacon fires of the second and third Changsha battles, and fought fiercely against the Japanese 13th Division of Class A in Hubei for seven days and nights, and bravely broke into Yichang city. His diary not only recorded the hardships of marching and combat, but also analyzed in detail the tactical characteristics of the enemy: "The course covered tactics, enemy situation research, and the essentials of paratrooper combat, aerial shooting, etc. Based on the enemy's attack with parachute troops... it was a new tactic in combat at that time." Afterwards, he also fought a bloody battle at Kunlun Pass. Soon, his troops were incorporated into the Left Wing Corps of the Chinese Expeditionary Force, and they were the first to cross the Nu River, encircle the Japanese troops in Tantou, open the Yunnan Burma Road, and join forces with the new army stationed in India. They made their first contribution. Every time I go on a campaign, I am full of energy, but when I come back, many people are gone. I don't know if I'll still be there tomorrow. ”The few words in the diary express the cruelty of war and reflect his fearless spirit of putting life and death aside. After the war ended, Lu Quan returned to Hainan. He was appointed as a member of the first session of the Haikou Municipal Political Consultative Conference, the leader of the party working group, and joined the Haikou Democratic Revolution, becoming an early member of the Haikou Democratic Revolution and a secretary member of the preparatory committee, dedicated to the cause of multi-party cooperation. Standing up in times of national crisis, abandoning pen and joining the army, growing from a scholar to an anti Japanese soldier; At the critical moment of historical decision, from the expedition to Burma to the resistance against US aggression and aid to Korea; During the period of national construction, Lu Quan selflessly joined the united front and provided suggestions for local development... Lu Quan's life is a vivid portrayal of the patriotic sentiments of intellectuals. Lin Qing stated that Lu Quan's profound patriotism still inspires the vast number of members of the National Revolutionary Committee to this day. It will continue to inspire the new generation of members of the National Revolutionary Committee, never forget their original aspirations, inherit the fine traditions of being united with the Party, loving the country and serving the people, cooperating sincerely, and dedicating themselves to work. In the hot practice of accelerating the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, we will contribute our wisdom and strength
